How About Hillary, or Not?

Interesting, though perhaps troubling, is the suggestion by some that if Obama doesn't choose Hillary Clinton to be his vice president, that McCain should choose her for his. I think this is a troubling proposition because I would not have voted for Clinton had she won the nomination, and any vice president has the possibility of having to step in and serve if the president becomes unable. However, McCain probably would be unbeatable if Clinton was on his ticket. What are your thoughts on this?

I think the ideal of a McCain/Clinton ticket is nonsense circulated by people who have nothing better to do than to circulate nonsense.
I would welcome an Obama/Clinton ticket. It would serve many of my issues and interests as a Democrat, an American, a woman, and a voter. But whoever Obama chooses, I'll vote for him. And whoever he chooses, Clinton will support.

Hillary would surely be viewed as a turncoat if she accepted an invite to run on the republican
ticket and helped get McCain elected. I would not want her to be vice president.
There are so many more qualified republican possibilities that McCain could choose from.

This has been one big discussion for the presidency this year. Obama will be president I think and who he chooses for his VP will be the right person. Even Hillary I think would be a good VP. McCain i don't know what to think about him, reminds me to much of Bush. So i would say that Hillary would be a good VP and Obama is not saying anything because that is what they want him to do. Right now he's taking his time; he already knows that he has choose her. He just has not told everyone else yet.

I don't think McCain is as much like President Bush as everyone says. President Bush is ultra
conservative and McCain is known to be a liberal republican. I still think he is better than
the opposition, however. Here is the link for the piece by Joseph Farah where the idea of a
McCain/Clinton ticket came from:

There is no way that Hillary would change party's to become the vice president....She is a dyed in the wool democrate and I think she would cut off her right arm before she would do that...
As for Obama choosing her to run with him I don't think he will......He has already said he wouldn't mind Bill as a canidate...
I'm not going to vote for either one of them....
..Maybe won't even vote for president....That sure would frost them

The idea of McCain choosing to run Clinton as his vp is at best an interesting proposition, though completely without merit, in view of the current political climate in the USA. Thanks for your response.

It would be a very wise choice if McCain would consider a woman as his running mate because then either way whomever became president would have reach a historic milestone in our country's history. But I don't think he would choose Hillary,I don't think she would accept the veep post from a republican it would go against the unity of her party. But its a good idea that McCain's camp should really consider.

So much for hoping he'd choose a conservative republican to balance out his ticket, huh.
That will not set well with a lot of republican voters.

I think Condoleeza Rice would be a great choice for vice president, but from what I have heard I don't think she'd be interested in the position. It will be interesting to see who McCain chooses.

May God spare us from such stupidity! If i had wanted to vote for her i would have voted democrat! There is a reason i WILL NOT vote for any ticket that she is on. If this means voting independent i will and if it means not voting at all i will also do that. Hopefully the republicans will have the good sense to know that they will lose a lot of Republican votes if they go through something this asinine!

The idea came from a Between the Lines editorial piece by Joseph Farah. I don't agree
with his ideas, either. I think McCain needs to choose someone who is conservative
because a lot of conservative minded republican voters are uncomfortable about his
liberal ways. If he chose Hillary as his running mate, he might as well have switched
parties and run democrat. I hope no one pays attention to Joseph Farah about such nonsense.

I agree. Having failed to secure the nomination of her own party, she should wait until the next
election to try again, but I don't think anyone questions her ambition to become president, so
vp would perhaps be a stepping stone for her to get there and I don't think that kind of raw
ambition in a vp would serve our country or McCain's administration well.

Remember, too, that John McCain has actually in public stated that he thinks Hillary would make a fine President if elected.
Yes, I do think McCain might ask Hillary to be his VP. I'm not predicting it, just saying that is the kind of unexpected thing McCain likes to do. I hope he doesn't do it. Many Republicans would just stay home and not vote.

I think you're right. No republican wants to see Hillary Clinton in the White House again, including this one.

I don't know who comes up with some of these ideas that seem to gain a lot of steam when there's probably nothing at all to them. I can't possible imagine either McCain picking Hillary or Hillary accepting! It would be far more likely, and a more pleasant thought in my opinion, for the Bushes to take off to a retirement home on Mars next January. I sure don't think that ticket would be electable let alone unbeatable because it would alienate McCain's base entirely and most of Hillary's as well. I can't figure out who would be left to vote for them.

Well, since McCain is a conservative Republican and Hilary is a liberal Democrat, I don't think that team is possible. One of them would have to change parties! (It is interesting to note that in the first few presidential elections in this country the one who came in second became the vice president, which didn't always make for friendly relations between the two. Back there there weren't formal "parties".)
I think Obama and Clinton would certainly make an interesting team. I wonder if they wouldn't kill each other!!

Most of the prevailing thought on McCain is that he is a liberal republican. But I agree a mix and match presidential campaign would never work. Changing parties in mid stream would be viewed as being a traitor, as would choosing a member, especially a front runner for the nomination of the democratic primary. I can't imagine them running together without trying to sabatoge
each other's party.

I don't think Hillary could run as McCain's vice president because she is a Democrat and he is a Republican. If it were possible I don't think many Democrats would be happy about it. Besides, I think that their political views are too different to work as a ticket together. I just can't see it.
