I thought I'd throw my own awards "show" here on myLot where anyone who wishes to jump in can nominate and vote for your favorite movies and performers in all the different genres. These aren't the Oscars, they're BETTER than the Oscars because with them they lump all the movies together and let's face it, there are some great movies that really can't be compared to other totally different but equally great movies, if you know what I mean. Plus, these aren't limited to just one year; great movies are timeless and truly great movies are just as good decades later than they were the day they were released. I'd like to start out with the Romantic Comedy category; keep in mind that a romantic comedy can be a little bit of comedy or a lot but the keyword here is "romantic". Another time we can honor the plain "Romance" or "Love Story" genre which can be funny or dead serious. In other words all "Romantic Comedies" are also eligible to win in the "Love Story" category but all love stories (including "Love Story" for obvious reasons" aren't eligible for the "Romantic Comedy" genre. Allow me - OK, you HAVE to allow me since I'm starting this discussion - to start us out with a few of my favorite Romantic Comedies. This is going to be tough to narrow down because there are SOOOO many good ones, no matter what the critics may say about some of them! Drum roll please........ 50 First Dates About Last Night Bull Durham Johnny Blue Eyes Lucky You Maid In Manhattan Meet the Fockers Meet the Parents Music and Lyrics Must Love Dogs Pretty Woman Runaway Bride Serendipity Something to Talk About The Break-Up The Parent Trap The Wedding Planner When Harry Met Sally You've Got Mail I'm sure there are a couple hundred more that I'm forgetting, which you're sure to remind me of! I'd also like to mention all the old - and I mean OLD - Doris Day/Rock Hudson, Bobby Darin/Sandra Dee and other classics from way back when. OK, now it's time to add your favorites or cast your votes for the ones I've listed. Also, give your nominations for best actors and actresses. We'll be right back after a message from our sponsors... Annie

Great!! There's someone here who also loves the old classics, even though you are way younger than I am. It's proof that some of these old movies are truly timeless, don't you agree? Great choices! Annie P.S., I haven't seen P.S. I Love You yet but I heard it's great and I can't wait to see it.

They are timeless. Hollywood is missing the whole starlet factor nowadays. The actresses aren't even half as beautiful as they were in the old movies. Movies from back then were so romantic, men giving women handkerchiefs and they had on screen chemistry...I love getting lost in old movies. Simple yet romantic...Truly timeless. I can't think of any movies recently that even come close to being classics in the coming years. It's really sad. PS I love you was a good one though. Very funny with a great message about life. I think you would like it.

Cool discussion. I would like to vote for When Harry Met Sally because that's one of my favorite rom-com films. However, I would like to add While You Were Sleeping to this list. That was a mjor film role for Sandra Bullock, well after Speed. As for nominations for actors/actresses, I'd like to put Meg Ryan and John Cusack on that list.

"While You Were Sleeping" is another one of those movies I've wanted to see for ages but somehow haven't gotten around to yet, but I will eventually. Your acting nominations are both on my list also, but it sure is hard to pick just one, isn't it? Annie

Okay well I love You've Got Mail! That is a great movie!! But you forgot my all time FAVORITE romantic comedy!! How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days!!! This is the best movie EVER! And my 2nd favorite romatinc comedy of all time is in a real neck and neck race with How To Lose A Guy...My 2nd favorite romantic comedy is... The Holiday! I think it is really good, and I think the acting by Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Jude Law are superb!!! Cameron Diaz isn't my favortie, but she did okay in the movie! I also enjoyed 2 very recent romantic comedies... PS I Love You Made of Honor

I didn't forget "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days", I haven't seen it yet, but I have heard it's very good, my daughter and granddaughter both loved it also, so it's on my "must see" list. I also haven't seen "The Holiday" yet either. Gee, you're miles ahead of me because I haven't seen the two recent ones you mentioned either but they're also both on my list of movies to see ASAP. I go in spurts - I watch movies like they're going out of style for awhile until there's nothing left for me to see, then I fall hopelessly behind. right now I'm in "catch-up" mode. Annie

Right about now I'm kicking myself for even responding to your discussion, anniepa! I only say this because there are so many possibilities.Oh well, here goes: Blind Date(I believe there are 2 with this title and I liked them both).; Nadine; Anything with Goldie Hawn, Kim Basinger, Meg Ryan, Sandra Bullock.

Right about now I'm kicking myself because I KNOW I should know Blind Date, probably both of them, but I can't quite place it right now. Or I should say either one of them...lol. Your mention of Goldie Hawn and Kim Bassinger makes me think of some other I've forgotten. DARN, there are lots! Annie
