Do I Know You???

ok, so i've been around for 45 years and in that time i've lived in 6 states, visited several others, and held my fair share of jobs...and during all this, i've met many, many people...be it friends, enemies, neighbors, co-workers, or even a few relationships.
so i was thinking last night, when you visit social networking sites like MyLot, do you ever wonder if maybe the person you're talking to might actually be someone you already know from your life?
i know with billions of computer users in the world the odds are pretty slim, but obviously my name isn't really Sconibear, so how do i know that Babs26647 isn't really Marge from the Stop-n-Shop in Clayton Wisconsin?
anyways, do you ever think about who you're really talking to?

I was born and raised here so I pretty much know...if they aren't living here or from around here there's not much chance I could've met them before. My s/o was an Armt brat though so he 'meets' old faces a lot. The funny thing is they all know him and can tell stories about 'back in the day" but he hardly ever remembers them...I think he really did drink a bit too much back then!

i know what your s/o is talking about....sometimes someone will start telling me something we talked about or did at the bar....and i don't even remember who they are.

Sometimes I've wondered about that too. Once I actually did run into someone online that I knew from a school I'd went to years earlier. If the conversation hadn't been about a local news event that was going on in her town, I would have never known where she was from or had a clue that I knew her.

what makes me laugh are the people that after telling them i am from canada, ask me if i know madge in hanna, alberta - not thinking that canada is the second largest country in the world! and no, we are not one all big happy family (and we dont have snow up here 365 either! - in fact, where i live, its well into the high 90's today!!!)

Good point sconicbear and, yes, I sometimes try to visualize the person I'm talking to so that I can communicate with them the best that I can.
