I am never good at buying presents, I usually end up getting gift certificates, but this year I really want to get him a good present. I was just wondering what people got there dad for father's day.

My dad is no longer with me, I always get an assortment of his favoriet flowers to take to his grave. It may sound silly but even though he has passed I still like to celebrate fathers day for him.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad that you celebrate him. My mom does the same for my grandpa, she leaves things for him at his grave.

My father passed away 3 years ago so I will not be getting him fathers day presents anymore. I bought my husband a toolbox for his pickup for Fathers Day it is what he wanted I usually ask him what he wants.

I'm sorry for your loss as well. I wish my dad would tell me what he wants, that would make it easy. He tells me he has everything he needs, and not to worry about it, but I don't listen.

I got my dad a card with a song in it that he likes. Hallmark makes great cards with songs in them, I love giving them as gifts. My dad loves spicy food so I got a jar of habanero jam from our local farmer's market for him. Small gift but I know he'll like it.

It all depends on what your father likes. its nascar season if he likes nascar get him something with his favorite driver, screwdriver sets or tools are always a classic gift, take an old photo that you know he would like and frame it or dress it up use a photo editor program if need be and give it to him, write a poem and read it to him, take him to dinner. buy him a tie and then take him out to dinner and make him wear his tie lol

My dad likes to give the sort of gifts that can be enjoyed for a long time, so that every time you use it, you think of him. They might be odd for gifts - he gave us a half-gallon of real vanilla which he had shipped up from Mexico one year; he also gave us some real maple syrup - but he attached the sentiment that these were gifts that would continue to remind us of the giver long after they had been initially given. As for shopping for dad, that's always a tough one. (How many jokes are out there about neckties? ;) Along the lines of the type of gift that my dad likes to give, we bought him a magazine subscription (This Old House - he's a carpenter) that he has thoroughly enjoyed. Maybe look at the type of gifts that your dad enjoys giving, and look for hints from them about the type of gift that he might hope to receive. Hope this helps!
