I have this peculiar hobby since my childhood. I like collecting writing pens. I remember saving my pocketmoney to buy those pens i wanted to. Though i seldom used all those pens, it was a craze to own the many different kinds of pens. And i used to like collecting inkpens better. Silly isn't it. But that is still my hobby, though it has been somewhat less in intensity now. Had you ever followed such a hobby or come by it?

hobby if collecting pens do not seem funny at all. sometimes i also felt that ... you know it feels good when you go to the notebook and stationary shop, that smell of new paper, and the thrill of writing on a new note book, new pens, always felling to have new pens, pencils, markers, glow pens, sketch pens, .... those are long gone.... but were present when i was young. still now i feel mesmerized when i go to the stationary sop even now. i never had a kind of hobby... but when i was i took away all the new pens that my father or mother brought. ha!

The same thing here buddy. Its was quite a passion to own the newest and the flashy pencils and pens during school life. And still good to have those pens our parents got all to ourselves. What hurt most was the loss of a pen. I remember losing my pencil box after an examination during school. There were two of my favorite ink pens given by my father and which i had reserved for exams only. Today going to the stationary shops is so disgusting. They have those use and throw pens stocked. Nothing to choose from those. Well, thank you for responding. And have a good day.

Yes. It is so. Use and throw pens are really handy and write good. But they are not as good as to be collected.some are attractive too but you cant remove the refill or drain the ink.so, you have to write enough to finish the ink. And i have seen they last long in terms of ink but don't last the wear and tear. So not attractive enough to stack them proudly. Also some use and throw pens are imitations of other known brands, making them still less likely to be collected. What do you prefer-use & throws or refillable ones ?

ya that is true... but i want to tell you something that in some places the plastic use and throw pens are banned as they cause a lot of pollution. some areas in goa i think that they are banned. but some are really good and handy too.... but that wont go so well from a pen collector point of view.

hello parthajena, no indeed not this kind of hobby is not at all funny. there are lot of people in the world who have different kind of passion. and some have even made them their profession. as on my part i had the hobby of collecting different varieties of roses in my garden. even my hedge was made up of a red creeper rose. ever since i moved to a newer house in a bigger city.... i have lost that hobby of mine and the people who moved to my house did not take care of that and those roses are long gone. hope to revive them at a bigger house with a garden over here soon. anyways have a good day... and thanks for reviving those long lost memories.

I have a friend who collects pens herself! She's just like you, too -- she doesn't really use the pens, she just loves filling cans and cans of pens! According to her, just touching her pens is heaven enough.

Thank you for responding. Thats so good to know someone shares my hobby. Best of luck to your friend for her hobby. Well i wont like my pens to become old due to use. They are better if still new.So i dont use them... Have a good day.

NOT at all I actually tried that myself for a while. However, the collection I am most proud of is my key chains. During the couple of years that I drove a Big Rig (Yep and I hauled double trailers a couple of times too, hazardous materials you name it. It was fun but scary at times) :) Anyway, I collected key chains from EVERY state I drove through. I did pretty good. I have 43. So other than the obvious (Alaska and Hawaii) I was only missing 5.

Hey my cousin shares that passion too...she never forgets to get one whenever she comes by something new or amusing. Dont you think its some sort of a momento or a trophy when you collect them from the respective places?? And good luck for collecting more of your passion.
