to make extra money people invest money in stock market, property bank deposits and buy gold and other precious items.with the present scenario changing very fast. property has gone up like anything , what will be a good investment for a person who is retiring / retired and wishes to keep his retirement funds safe for his retired life ?how to balance it out against future inflationary trends ?

Hi, In my opinion, now is not good time to go into stock investment. You need to do some fundamental analysis about the stock you want to buy and compare with other stocks in the same industry. For example: You plan to buy Stock ABC in "Finance" industry. You need to compare with other stocks that are in the same industry. Check the ROE, EPS, P/E, Dividends, Intrinsic value and fair value. After you found the best stock, wait and observe the trend. Buy it at the price you want and if t drops, do cost averaging. You should also invest in mutual funds to lower the risk of investments. Then, keep more money in saving account. Don't put all your money into investments because it will be very dangerous to do so. Since you mentioned retired person, then he can also use his free time to make some money. Maybe he can start a home business like bakery, childcare and so on. One of the good and simple business to do is eBay. Sell stuff using eBay and make some money.

Hi juhi! I feel investing in gold would yeild you some profit in future. We even have mutual funds and ULIP Insurance, go ahead without fear of losing your money. Regards, Ramya

thank you ramya for providing great suggestion.i am also thinking of a reasonable spread of investments over a basket of stocks , mutual funds, gold and insurance besides bank deposits. a reasonable amount can be put in property investment too.

My husband always wanted me to do day trading instead of doing blogging and mylotting. I somehow dont like to do day trading. Only experts can make more money in stock market. according to me buying gold is the best investment

sure vidya gold has always been one of the rock solid investments among all other investments. but stock market has its risks and ups and downs and they are so sharp at times that it makes it really difficult to trade. many people make quick money but as you say expertise is required.and luck is a big factor.

your investment totally depends on money amount you have. if you have small money amount that you could go for short term investment in share market and if you have huge amount of money then y ou could go for real state business this business is really worthy if you have enough money other options are mutual fund in muctual funds you have less risk than shares.

hi sush dear thank you very much for responding to this discussion.i will definitely keep your suggestions in mind before investing. what is your experience any real estate experience? or the stock market experience? pl share with me how has it been ?no doubt risk is rather less while investing thru mutual funds rather than direct investment in shares but so is the yield.
