I really have a hard time motivating myself to study...I have a very short attention span and no focus when it comes to studying...I wanted to study but I don't know the best way to convince my body and brain to work together...

haha that is exactly like me...here's your solution...don't study and say your prayers.

Yup, I'm the same exact way! What I do (since I'm in school right now) is to just break up the assignment into sections. If you have a week to read say a chapter, start on Monday and read a few pages or sections, then the next day read the rest, and the next day skim again and write out notes, then review review review. I find if I break it up into smaller sections I can concentrate on the material and actually absorb what I'm reading.

Hi budz08, I think the first thing you should do is to renew your mind, stop thinking that you have very short attention span when it comes to studying the more you keeping this in my mind more likely to happen. Yo have to remind yourself why you want to do better in your study (maybe to have a good mark, maybe to have good cahnce at a carrer that will pay you well) Always keep your end goal in mind. Try also putting up a little card of ispiration around wit inpirational msg. You have to also learn to deal interuptions (from family, friends or anything), you have to maintain concentration and interest And also, work out a system of reward to your self, the reward should be proportioned to the effort you have into work. Beside motivatin yourself with series of external reward, learn to motivate yourself internally, like Tell yourself your a good learner , tell yourself yo are enjoying. Good luck!

I always play until I got bored and realised that I've got nothing else to do other than studying. That is when I can focus on studying.

Sometimes i also experience that way but the only motivation that i did to myself is to set my mind always that if i won't study i get failed and if i get failed there will be a tendency that i will repeat the subject course which hinders me to finish early or graduate on time. But aside of that motivation factor, i practice a good and healthful lifestyle such as eating healthy foods and get enough rests and sleeps and taking up vitamins since it has been scientifically proven that through having a healthy lifestyle can boost out immune system, memory and maintain focus. Above all, ask for the guidance from the Supreme Being or God.
