I have gotten many calls for a woman named Sandra. I kept telling the telemarketers that they had the wrong number. They still continued to call. I have gotten to the point, where I never answer my phone anymore. I just keep it turned off. What about you? How do you excuse yourself from these annoying telemarketers?

Here is the government link so that you can block your telephone number from telemarketers. I completed this form years ago and have never had one call since that time. https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx

I forgot to add that just last week I was getting dozens of calls from collection agencies for the previous owner of my cell phone number. I called the cell phone company and they immediately gave me a new number and the calls then stopped. It was explained to me that cell phone numbers are recycled numbers and have always had previous owners.

Yes, I have done the same thing as you have. I can't seem to understand why my number is the same as this previous person. Well, now I understand.. Thanks for your response.

Hi cream, I think you should contact the service provider to stop telemarketing call, their is a facility givrn by the tele services, if you have kept it opt-in you will recive call no matter how many times you tell the telemarketer. So you have to tell the tele service provider to stop giving your numbers to other. I think you should not keep your phone turnedoff because someone must be trying to reach you desperatlly / any urgency.

i don't have experience similar to what you have but my girlfriend has. somebody call her and ask to returned the cellphone she using, the caller told her that she stole it from him. my girlfriend told me about what happened, next time the man call i answered his call and said him to stop calling my girlfriend because he called a wrong number. after that he stop calling.

I don't get those kinds of calls on my cell...yet! LOL! Maybe the occasional wrong number and, possibly the occasional telemarketer but, I tell them one time that I am not interested and if they continue to talk, I simply hang up. I didn't answer the phone to be argued with. Now, as for you, would you consider having your cell phone provider give you another number? And, you could always go to https://www.donotcall.gov/ and have it registered on the do not call list. That way, it is literally illegal for them to harass you and you can threaten them with that!

Find out her last name and tell them to skip trace her name. If they keep calling ask to speak to their supervisor, then file a harrasment complaint if they keep calling back. Also, you need to put your number on the do not call registry. See my discussion on that procedure. Good luck.

My boyfriend had a sort of similar situation concerning his ex girlfriend. They've been split up for a year and a half and he's been getting calls from a bill collector for a while. He finally just told them to stop calling and he's told them about 5 times. The next time they call it's a lawsuit. If you tell them who you are and how long you've had the phone for and tell them they need to stop calling your number then they have no right to call. It's illegal and could be considered harrasment. I was in the program to be one of these debt collectors and I quit.
