I live in an apartment complex, and it bugs me how many people do not pick up after their dogs, and also let them run loose. A German Shephard got loose the other day and almost ran through the screen trying to get my dog. How hard is it really to put your dog on a leash, and pick up after it?

This drive me crazy as well. It's really sucks to step in a 'present' that someone else's dog left behind. If people aren't keeping their dogs leashed in your complex it may be worth it to contact your landlord. Most urban areas have leash laws, and it could be a liability for the landlord to have loose dogs about. If a loose dog bites a leashed dog, or a person it could be a very large deal. I know other people who have had success with getting their neighbors to comply with leash laws and waste laws by getting the landlord involved.

We do have leash laws, but it seems that many people around here don't abide by them. As for the presents, supposedly if the complex fines people $50 if they don't clean up after thier dogs, although how they find out who does this is beyond me.

Hi Monica, I agree, if they cant take care of their dog, then let someone that can take of it have it. Personaly, I wouldnt have a dog if I didnt live in a house. Especialy, if you live on somebody elses property, they should clean up after it. If I were you, the next time that dog came at my dog, I would think about calling the animal shelter. The owner might learn something that way! Yours truly, Tianna

I have a small dog, that's why I'm able to keep him in an apartment. Unfortunately, there are no animal shelters in this area, or I think I may seriously consider your suggestion!
