I don't know how long it has been since this question has circulated on here, but my wife brought it up when I answered another question. We hit a double kool anniversary last year with 15 years married and 20 years together. Anybody else want to celebrate a milestone or show off the longevity of your love?

I guess my husband and I are still considered newlyweds. We have been married for 7 months now. But we have known each other for 14 years and been together a good bit of that time.

Hi Heathcliff. Well, I've been married for almost 13 years now and my husband and I have known each other for 14 years. The most beautiful thing about being married is that there's so much a level of comfort with each other. In the course of a day, one is always putting up pretences and enacting roles. It's only with my husband that I can be myself. Yes, we do fight and fight like crazy, I tell you. He's away in a different city on work and we fight even on the phone. But the moment I hear his voice I feel comforted even if we are disagreeing at that moment. Funny, no? I think marriage is really a wonderful institution though it comes with its baggages. The only thing one must be careful about is not to take each other for granted. But, that's inevitable. Anyway, for better or for worse, we're together.

My husband and I will celebrate our 44th anniversary on July 6th. We still love each other, love to be together, take trips together, eat together. And, we still sleep in the same bed together. LOL! Seriously, we married to stay married. We got married by a Judge at the Court House who gave us a long talk before he would marry us. We took his words to heart and have never even considered doing anything other than staying together. And, it's been a great almost 44 years.

In September we will have been together for 38 years but in August it will be our 36th wedding anniversary, so I guess that means by the year 2012 God willing, we will be celebrating our 40th. But I do try to live in the present by taking each day and enjoying a day at a time. It's just that it's hard not to plan for future events. Take care.

I was going to make a post asking people about their anniversaries, but I didn't get around to it. My 23rd anniversary was last Sunday, June 8. My husband and I started dating in high school, we dated for 6 years then then married, so we have actually been together for 29 years in all. Congratulations on your 15/20 years anniversary. I hope you have many more wonderful years together.
