How do you cure cravings for salty foods or potato chips?

Sometimes I get the worst cravings for anything salty and crunchy. I try to resist, but then end up eating all the wrong things. I'm not sure if these cravings are hormonally related or just real hunger. I'm not on any kind of special medication. But, it has been hot here lately. Not sure if that would make a difference.
How do you deal with salt cravings or cravings for salty junk foods and such, when you're on a diet and trying to eat healthy? Would pretzels be a good choice? I don't think they have lots of calories. What do you think? Would appreciate suggestions. Please share your best tips?

Hi,
I love salty food specially the plain potato chips. I just love them more when I am hungry. I control them by not buying them:). But, sometimes I just cannot stop it once started. So, just try to avoid it thus save me..
take care..

Why don't you just give in? I don't think a serving of what you crave for would hurt. It's better than depriving yourself of what you want. In any type of diet, though it's strongly urged not to go for your craving, but we are all human and the worst thing we could do to a craving is by ignoring it, because it will come back 10-fold. :)
So give in. Just don't overeat.
