Do you use a calculator when balancing your checkbook?

I find that it is just as quick to balance my check book using the old fashioned math methods. Trying to locate a calculator and then positioning it so that it gets energy for its solar panels...well, that it just seems easier to figure it out on my own. So, do you use a calculator when you balance your checkbook?

not at all.calculators are useful for people who do not know counting i mean calculating. i have been a banker myself and even for serious calculations i always find it clumsy and my speed had been faster than the calculator. because feeding in the calculator eats away lot of your time.

no, I subtract and then add to check for accuracy. It is not so often that I add and then subtract to check for accuracy though, lol.

thank you for the B.R. LJS! When paying bills online if I have some change hanging around on my checkbook balance I will add those cents or odd dollars to my payment so that I can work with nice even numbers in my register

I use a calculator for just about everything math related. I think it's better to get it right the first time, than to try and get it wrong, on something as important as balancing the books.

I guess that I should consider the time that I take checking my math....probably should just go and get the darned calculator! Thanks for your response.

I haven't had any problems with my solar calculator unless the room is just too dark. Then it's too dark for me to see very well to write in the check register! I usually use a calculator to balance the checkbook. If it's an easy amount (like $20.00) I've written a check for then I don't need a calculator and don't use it then.

I could not imagine my life without a calculator, whether for balancing a checkbook or calculating my daily MyLot earnings, versus posts made and hours spent on MyLot. Truly an amazing invention. I don't use any of the fancy calculator buttons, just basic math.

Technically yes. I use the calculator program that comes with the windows operating system. It does the job and is always there (unless I lose my computer).
