Friends, I know some of you are coming from countries that teach their people about the 'proper' use of water for their daily lives. So please share with me how mostly you spend 'less' water in order to save more water from any future crisis, or so that the water bills won't be too expensive because of our way of using waters? For example like using it for washing things or something like that. Please advise me. Many thanks in advance.

I put a water jar in my toilet tank. (That's the part of the toilet that sends the water to the bowl.) It saves about two cups per flush. * When I wash dishes, I fill one side with soapy water to wash the dishes, clean to rinse. That saves quite a bit.

In addition to the water saving measures, such as usimg water saving faucets and showers, recycling is the key to stop the water shortage. So the shower water would be reused for toilet flushing and cleaning.

its difficult if it questioned for bigger scoope since we know that its not easy to maintain different people with different behaviour. the better thing that we should do to overcome this matter, starting from our own self. don't think how far it will be effected to clean water problem in general, but just start from your self. start to use water wisely. don't let the water flow in wastafel while you are tooth brushing, turn off the water pipe tightly if you are not using it

I used to be guilty of taking really long showers but I invested in a timer which I keep on my bathroom counter. Now I can keep track of the time I spend in the shower and limit my time so that I conserve water. I also try not run the dishwasher or washing machine unless it is completely full.

In my part, I was disciplined by our mother to always turn off the faucet whenever water is not needed. And instead of using water directly from the faucet, I and my siblings were told to use containers as not to waste water. We were also told to not throw away the water used for our laundry, as these may be used to clean the bathroom, the floor, or the windows. Well, I'm glad we were taught that way. We were able to lessen our water bills. But since shortage of water is really inevitable, we make it a habit to store some water in a drum for future use, not that we are going to drink from it, but used the water for doing the laundry and washing the dishes.

As a couple of others who have posted here do, I don't use the washing machine unless there is a full load available, although it could be argued that a full load could cause some clothes not to wash properly but that could be to do with the washing powder being used. It's really important, therefore, to make sure that you don't fill the washing machine beyond full load else it'll just be a waste of water! As for washing dishes, I usually refill the washing bowl once. Depending on how dirty the dishes are, I use the first load for knives, forks, serving spoons, cups and bowls, then use the second load for dinner plates and any pots or pans that were used to cook the dinner. The water from the second load is then used to clean all the food cans, etc, that are to be recycled.
