My poor puppers has discovered that his water and food are not his own .. Today my cat came upstairs and from the basement where he hides during the hot days and walked straight over to my puppers food dish and decided to partake in the food that is there. My dog at the time was drinking the water next to the cat and looked at him like what do you think your doing? My cat oblivious to the puppy kept on eating. Now they have their own food but this cat out of my three prefers to eat the puppy's food all the time. LOL!! So has this ever happened to you if you have both dogs and cats? Does your dog sit there and take it or does he/she recliam their food dish?

rogue and baskerville have always gotten along very well.. so theres never been any problems between them other than bask stealing the water from the cats.. miranda however.. takes great pleasure in tormenting the poor hound.. even setting him up for a beating as she lays patiently in wait for the opportune moment. all she has to do is step into the kitchen when hes eating and stare at him.. and poor little candyass bask cringes and backs away from his food dish letting her have at it. im constantly shooing her away during his feeding times, otherwise he would starve himself allowing this pintsized feline thats 1/8 of his size bully him.

That is just too funny .. How a cat the 1/8 of the size of him gets to bully him around kinda makes me wonder what she has done to him while your not looking. LOL!!! cats and dogs they are like kids aren't they. LOL!!

We have two chihuahua's and one cat. If my fiance and I feed the animals we give what I call "elevator service" to the cat by picking her up and putting her own the bar / island so that she can eat her own food. She is the first one to be fed as she is the most vocal. I feed her while my fiance feeds the dogs. After she gets done munching on her food for a bit she will go over to their food bowl and sniff and eat it. The dogs are actually rebelling against their food now as my fiance's mother (the one in charge of deciding on the food for the animals) has mismatched their food trying to find something they like. They don't seem to mind that our cat eats their food, and she (the cat) doesn't seem to mind that sometimes they'll eat her dry cat food. If any of this is confusing let me further explain. 3 pets 2 of which are dogs. They get dry food all day as it's set out for them but they get wet food twice a day. The cat gets to eat on the bar or island and after doing so will eat the dog's wet food... they in turn eat her dry cat food as well as their dry dog food.

At least they are all sharing and not trying to kill eachother over the food. LOL!! Thanks for the cute visual story.

I don't think they would do much damage anyway as they are all at the same level, lol. The cat is the oldest of the animals and thus has been in the house longer. She's the queen, and it took awhile for her to warm up to me.

I have never had dogs and cats at the same time honey but I can imagine how funny it looked! The cat probably just wanted to wind the puppy up lol I know it is difficult to keep them seperate honey but did you know dog food could be dangerous to cats - it upsets their metabolism! xxx

It has been a long time since I could have a dog or cat as I now live in an apartment.but wehen I had a dog and a cat 'together the cat would sneak the dogs food and the dog would growl and grumble but never do anything about it. so finally separated them so my poor dog could get her own puppy food.lol.

My farm dog is an outside dog and used to protecting her food from anything that wanders along. So, no, she would definitely not just watch the cat eat her food and stand by silently. The cat would be running for it's life when it got within 10 feet of her food dish. Seen it happen before, when the barn cats try to sneak up and snack on whatever goodies we have put in her dish recently. But I do know that they are able, somehow to steal the odd peice, because I have found it in their dish inside the barn door, when I know I gave it to the dog and the door was shut, so no way she dropped an offering in there for them. Had she ever gone near their dish, she would have been sure to clean up all the cat food. If I run out of dog food, I will often give her some of the barn cat food and she just gobbles it up so fast, you would think it was chocolate.

LOL!! since he was a pup when we got him and the cats were already here I think sometimes he thinks he's a cat I've caught him curled up like one on my dinning room table a couple times. LOL!!!!

Lol if Gissi was actually eating and one of the Cats tried to get it he would growl at them, but if he turned away and one of the Cats was eating his Food he would sit there look at the Food and Cat and then look at me, I would move the Cat away, Gissi would finish his Food and then would go and enjoy the Cat Food lol till I took him away from that

Bella I have a dog and a cat. Dollar (the dog) is 10 and Anikin (the cat) is 7. They have lived together so long I do not think they know they are of different species.. LMAO In fact we have give up buying dog food, as Dollar will not eat it anymore and prefers the cat food.

My cats used to do this to my dog, she would look at me with her sad eyes and tell me to stop them with her look. I think cats are so terribly bossy and like to think that they can do as they please, even if they are told off for their behaviour. They will look as if to say, and you are who exactly to be telling me this! My dog never did a thing about it she just used to let them get away with it, I used to have to give her some more food when the cats were full and fast asleep somewhere out of the way!

Yuki - Photo of my dog, Yuki!
I have two dog, both silky, but they are separate which not problem for food. Some month ago, my mom's friend asked us to take care of their Tzi Shu, which we let him stay with our female silky name Yuki. At start, Yuki will always want to bite him. Every time that dog want to eat Yuki's food, Yuki will very angry and want to bite him. After a few hour, Yuki start to turned friendly to him, and started to share food with him. Both of them started to eat food together. Some time when Yuki eat food alone, which he is still playing, Yuki will even leave some food for him. After a weeks, his master bring him back, which leave Yuki alone now....
