I think he only moved the holiday but the comemoration is still on the 12th. I think the reason behind is to have a continous and longer weekends which is beneficial to those that work and the employers too. having holidays in the middle of the week disrupts the normal flow of transactions and for the employees it does not help hevin a one day holiday at the middle of the week then the next day back to work which is not conducive to going back to work anymore.

yes, you are right, that is i think the exact reason why she moves holidays. but i think moving the independence day holiday somehow would have a negative impact on the actual meaning of the holiday. i mean, moving everything else, like traditional holidays or feasts, holidays of saints or heroes are ok, but not independence day. Plus, i wouldnt think his Dad, yes, Diosdado Macapagal would allow her to do that, eh si Diosdado lang naman ang pumili ng June 12 as the day of the Philippine Independence. If he was alive right now, GMA will probably be locked up in her room and be grounded for a month. LOL!

I don't think she would move religious holidays as this is not the scope of her authority anymore. That is why Christmas is still Christmas. I think she only moves those that are considered legal holidays. I don't see anything that makes the celebration negative. They still celebrated independence day on June 12. I can see that even in schools they were able to make arrangement to commemorate the day wherein if this was declared a holiday no school and the students would not bother to really celebrate this day at all.

Hmm.. Am I really so left behind that I'm not even aware that she's moving it? Hmm.. As far as I understood, she's just moving the holiday but not the celebration or the commemoration. It's just basically to have longer weekends and be a bit more convenient for commuters who work during regular office hours. That's fine with me. I see it practical and convenient.

I don't, since It is a fix date and should not be change! Shes making her own calendar which should not be the case! She is destroying the essence of the event.
