No not religion but GREED AND LUST for money and power. people covet after things that do not belong to them and resort to violence and war to get them instead of working to earn their own. War is caused by man's sin nature and that will not change until each person has a change of heart through the power of Jesus Christ

Religious extremism has been the motivator for many wars throughout the history of mankind. Yet at the same time many religious people are able to live in peace and harmony with others. That includes others of different religious beliefs. Please note there are often marriages of people who have different religious beliefs who manage to raise children with out conflict. * Other motivations for war or conflict have been economic, ecological, and territorial. Sometimes simple blood lust makes for blood letting.

Yes, I do agree with that and have been saying and thinking that for as long as I can remember. It's sad because when I went to church and Sunday School as a child I was taught that God is LOVE, that we're supposed to be tolerant and forgiving. However, since the beginning of time there have been wars fought in the name of religion and I doubt that God is very pleased about that. Annie

I dont agree with that but due to ignorance people find them selves fighting in the name religion, take for an example in the midle east of what is happening, and these things are caused by islams

The problem with religion is that everybody who has it seems so obsessed with their version of the truth, they can't tollerate other people with different versions of it. Just goto any discussion on religion particularly when you have Jews, Christians and Muslims in the same melting pot and even though they technically worship the same god, they'll be behaving in a rather UnGodly fashion. History has shown that more wars have been fought in the name of religion than anything else, starting from the Crusades right down to the John Hagee's Church. Everyone claims that God is on his or her side and they keep killing each other. Only God will be able to tell us how much of an actual hand he has in these conflicts but its clear that God is claimed to be very much a part of this conflict. It's easier to fight for God than for basic bread and butter issues like land, water and other natural resources. Look at Palestine, its essentially a conflict of land and water rights but because three major religions claim that bit of space as their own, God has become a feature of the conflict. And when God becomes a feature of any conflict it becomes so much more complicated. The formula of Land for Peace has been a workable formula in the Middle East. Israel offers to give up land and the Arabs give them a peace treaty. However, there are powerful forces that provide Israel with diplomatic and financial support that believe that giving up land is evil and against God. And so, whenever Israeli governments try to work on creating peace for Israeli people, God gets in the way.

sad to say but truth be told: it does... maybe it's because most people are passionate about their religions... and even though it brings charity to many, some divert this passion to war.. since not all can accept that we have different beliefs and practices, we quarrel, we debate, and yes people go to wars...

Some of them yes. Any war over land because a religious group claims it would fall under that umbrella. I suppose the holocaust would too, if you think that hitler was trying to exterminate Jews. There are CONFLICTS daily over religious issues, heck, I see them here in mylot! Religious views also seem to breed intolerance of differences. Any differences. There are even different branches of ONE religion at odds with each other!

Hey! Thank you. It's true that many people do some really stupid things in the name of their religion. But is that religion really guily in that or is it the blame of the people?
