Karaoke - Private Room or Bars

Do you karaoke? If so how would you prefer to do it - in a private room with a bunch of friends or in a bar/restaurant in front of total strangers? I would much prefer to do it in a private room with a bunch of friends because it's less embarrassing. I would get stage fright if I had to do it in public in front of people I don't even know. When you're with friends and family, then you can be comfortable that no one is judging you and you can just have fun. And even do dance moves if you want to.

The last time I sang karaoke was when I was a kid in grade 6, and my class went to camp for a few days. It was just a bunch of kids, so there was no problem. If i was going to do it again, I don't think I'd care where I did it. People in a Karoke bar will expect amateurs, so what's the problem?

I suppose it depends on whether or not you're an introvert or an extrovert. More outgoing people really don't mind meeting strangers. But as a shy person, getting up in front of a bunch of nameless people would be so close to public speaking, which is one of my biggest fears. Thanks for your insight!
