i went to get gas this morning and i passed by citgo (which by the way i normally do not patronize) and then went past my usual haunt for gas at a neighborhood getty station. their gas at getty was $3.99 and it was $3.97 at citgo so i went back to citgo. it only saved me 18 cents but it was the principle of the thing. even 2 cents at this point makes a difference with these ridiculous gas prices and it is only going to get worse. i bet by this afternoon the prices will be past $4.00 per gallon because it is a weekend and they know people will be traveling to the shore and to the beaches.

But wouldn't driving back to the Citgo kind of defeat the purpose? Saving eighteen cents is only worth it if it was convenient. I hope that it was for you. (: Gas is getting ridiculous, and with that, the products that are delivered by truck are inflating. I hope some of this stops, soon.

they are literally around the block from one another. you just cannot see them both from the same vantage point. it was worth it to me.

Gas prices are likely to rise more yet and it's very unlikely that they will go down again. Console yourself with the fact that in the UK we are paying 2 to 3 times as much as you and there isn't that much difference between the average yearly mileage in the UK and in the US.

If it was around the block, then I would definitely have made the same choice that you did. :3 Hopefully the prices do not rise as predicted.

I know, this gas situation makes a couple of pennies seem so important and I've done the same thing but it was about 4 cents difference and I was so excited at first! That is until I realized how much money I was getting excited about.

Provided that it doesn't cost more in gas (because you are going out of your way) than you are saving, it makes sense to buy at the cheapest place in your area. There are several sites which publish the cheapest gas prices in your area: http://www.gasbuddy.com/ http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gasstations.aspx?zip=&src=Netx http://www.gaspricewatch.com/new/default_V3.asp http://gasprices.mapquest.com/index.jsp (Just a selection of the ones that came up with a search on 'gas prices check') It would be smart to bookmark the ones you like and to check them out when next you need gas. Maybe you can plan your journey to run other errands in the same area that the gas is cheapest.

Hello Friend, I think that I may have done just the same thing myself. If you had a 15 gallon tank, and you filled up two times a week, that would save over 30 dollars in a year. Doesn't sound like much, but if you have two vehicles, or the savings are more it could add up. I have started using regular gas instead of the middle grade, so I am saving about 10 to 15 cents a gallon according where I get it.

Gas will get to a point where only the rich can afford it and when that happens the commidity bubble or gas prices will fall due to a lack of demand because people can't afford it.
