I never think of buying anything for myself simply because if I need something badly enough then I will buy it anyway. LOL
Actually I start my Christmas shopping in January and put things away. At least this way I get good quality presents and often at a heavily discounted price, i.e. up to 60%, which means I can give a good present without totally blowing the budget. :)

I don't have family now so I only have a couple of friends that I have to exchange pressies with so I always buy myself something as I say from my Mum & Dad...I wrap it up and don't open it until Chritmas Morning...

My wife and I like to buy presents for our kids and most of the time we even forget to buy something for ourselves. It's really not a surprise when you already know WHAT LIES UNDERNEATH THE WRAPPING.
Turns out, our kids NEVER forget us. They usually get something for us.

shopping for yourself is not bad at all, hehe.
if you can buy people presents, you deserve to buy yourself one too.
it makes the shopping more fun :)
