I just found out today that a study has found out that the "polyvinyl chloride" (PVC) shower curtains are hazardous to health. The typical smell of "new" curtain can release volatile compounds which can cause cancer in animals and humans as well as developmental and reproductive damage. I'm pretty big on limiting my toxic and carbon foot print and living a healthy life and this news is very useful for me. How do you feel about this new discovery. Are you going to change you curtain or do you think it's just a hype? http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryId=121678

I hate the smell from the shower curtains, but what else are you going to use? The same things goes for that "new car" smell as well. Really toxic to people and many animals (smell can actually kill some animals).

well vinyl curtains aren't the only option. People can use other varieties. I personally like Fabric curtains as they are a keeper. Just have to put an inner lining but that's also available in vinyl free material. I'm hoping to see more options being available after the release of this report.
