When family members share the same birth date.

When I first found out I was pregnant with my eldest, it was a heartbreaking moment for my family. I had continually disgraced them and made them a laughing stock where we lived. I was a total selfish little witch and I hate thinking about it. But there was one thing that happened during it all that I think was meant to happen for a reason, my due date for my son was given as the 4th October. My Dads birthday is on October 13th and he jokingly said that it would be a lovely birthday present if I gave birth on his birthday. But I was like "no it will not happen because it is due on the 4th". Anyway I did go over my due date, and the days ticked by and my Dad was getting more excited (they had forgiven me again by this time). It got to about the 8th October and I thought, yes it could actually happen. But then on the 9th October I started in labour, I was already in hospital luckily in fact I had been in about 2 weeks. I thought it was sad that my Dad would not get his wish but then the pain wiped any thoughts of anything out of my head! I was still in labour on the 10th, still in labour on the 11th, still in labour on the 12th and still in labour on the 13th. But then all of a sudden the doctors thought "oh hang on a min she has been in labour a while we best help her out". Which was a good thing as baby had gotten stuck in my birth canal and they had just let me get on with it, so anyway he was born FINALLY at 7.35pm on Sunday 13th October 1991 and so shares the same birthday as my Dad. My Dad was really chuft, still is and it is a special bond that they share. So, do you have any family members that share the same birthday? Is it a special thing for them and do any of you have any stories about them sharing a birthday?

I have a male cousin whose two daughters share a birthday. While still in the tummy, and with the parents knowing delivery would be somewhere close to the older one's birthday, my cousin would often talk to the baby in the tummy, asking it to "come out on January 7". She did. The sisters are seven years apart. I find it poignant because it was like the younger sister was a birthday gift for the older sister - the latter had been hoping for another baby sister, to "replace" another one who unfortunately passed away very early in life.

Birthday presents - gifts given to a person for their birthday
My youngest son's birthdate is October 13th, 1983.That is the day before my grandmother's birthday. However my grandmother was already deceased when her great grandson was born. And my oldest son was born the day before my 19th birthday.I was glad he had a day of his own.I got so in to planning his birthday's I'd forget my own birthday. My daughter share's her birthday with two cousins. But,they are distant cousin's so it does interfere with her celebration.

Honey we all play up when we are teenagers to some extent and just because you were maybe a little bit wild shouldn't make you feel ashamed - it is about who you are now and you have certainly grown into a fantastic Mum and a very lovely person. That is lovely that your son shares a birthday with your Dad and I wish I could say that we had a similar thing but we don't! The closest we have is my niece who was born the day before my 9th birthday, my sister too had had a long hard labour (although not as bad as yours - I find it incredible the medical staff left you so long!) and when I went in to see my gorgeous new baby niece I was very huffy and sulky with my sister and actually had the nerve to tell her if she had waited just one more day my niece could have been born on my birthday! lol If she hadn't been so exhausted my sister would have throttled me - guess I had a lucky escape there! xxx

Wow, what a massivly long labour that would have been awful as you were so young too. My first labour was 17 hours, I thought that was a long time untill I read your story. I think your son was meant to be born on your dads birthday, that is an amazing story. It is one birthday your dad will never forget, lol. My daughter Shanae (3 months now) was born on Dan her uncles birthday on March the 4th. That was really special as at the time of her birth Dan was in hospital for Chromes disease he was really sick. That made his day, finding out his little Neice was born on his birthday. So we gave Shanae's middle name after Dan, her middle name is now Danielle. So I think she was meant to be born on this date too. BTW Dan is now out of hospital and okay.

It was long and hard and was enough to put me off having children for another 8 years. What a nice story, maybe that was what helped your brother recover.

Yeah I know, my first labour put me off having my second child for 8 years too. Dan was Simons brother not my brother, I should have mentioned that in my response. I have a sister. Have a great day!

we have 2 that has this my mom and sister's oldest daughter are born on the same day November 20th. and my niece from my other sister and her first born are born on the same day Sept 29. It is weird, I am a day later than my aunt. and every boy in our family are born in March. Very strange. but interesting, One thing is that both sets are close together so it is easy to celebrate them, For the children they usually set their birthday's on the weekend's for their peers, and us old adults lol, just have it on the norm. It is different. My aunt and I use to celebrate together, now we are to far apart. But usually on her birthday I call or send her a card or both. We are pretty close net. Hers is Sept 23 and mine the 24.

I know, its different, we are a large family, I think that is most of it, My mom and dad are only one year and 1 weeks different, Nov 14 and Nov 20, Not sure how it works, but it is strange, it keeps you on your toes, The funny thing, is that I just found a set of family and my one sister is the 25, of April and the other is the 5th of April. now that is freaky.

Good grief, I'm surprised they didn't do a C-Section on your third day of labor! I think you should get a medal for lasting that long. My mom and her mother (my grandmother of course) were both born on July 7th. On one hand my grandmother got quite a gift for her birthday, on the other hand she spent that particular day in a lot of pain during labor!

My daughters are both born on the same day 2 years apart on the same day. They even do the twin thing If one gets hurt the other one soon follows. Both had their appendixes out 2 weeks apart. I have a nephew born on my b-day and his brother is born on my daughters' b-day

My youngest child was due on May 29th. My birthday is May 31st. Everyone kept telling me that she would be born on my birthday. I knew she wouldn't though. My last two were both born almost a month early so I knew she would probably follow suit. I was right. My water broke on the morning of May 3rd, 2006. She was breech and my only C-Section so I knew she was coming that day. I called my dad from the hospital and said, "Happy Birthday! Your gift is a new little granddaughter!" He hung up the phone and went straight to my mom at work to tell her how the baby was being born on HIS birthday.

gemini rose my family birthdays are a really odd'story.I was delving into my family tree and I found that my son had the same birthday as his gr gr uncle Andrew Clark on my dad side did. albeit the man was born in 1789 but on the fifth of June just as my son was born on the fifth of June in 1959. I really thought that was rather interesting.
@gemini_rose (16264)

You are right, that is really interesting! I am going to start looking into my family tree soon.

That is fantastic story!! Unbelievable the doctors left you in labour so long!!! I would have asked them to have done something but its nice that your son shares his birthday with your dad!!! The only person in my family that I share a birthday with is my twin brother!! Obviously, it is nice having someone to share with, growing up it didnt bother us (I dont think)!! My mum shares her birthday with her step great-niece!! They often celebrate their birthdays together.

It was a horrible time in my life that was just the climax of a very long year in my life. I was too young to know that I should not have been left that long, I just thought that is how it was. I was on my own so there was no one else there to tell them it was wrong.

I have a lot of family members that share the same birthday. It is sorta strange actually, my aunt and grandfather share the same birthday, my step dad and step mom do, my son and my cousin, my uncle and 2 of my brothers do as well. There are several more, but you probably get the point. It's really glad your parents stopped being mad at you!

Lots of shared birthdays there then! They stopped being mad at me, but it was not long before I managed to upset them again, that could be one of the reasons that they kept moving away from me!!

Both of my kids were pretty close to being born on my birthday. With my first pregnancy my OBGYN told me that if my baby decided to be late that she would induce me on my birthday. So he could have very well been born on that day. LOL Instead he was born 10 days before it. With my second son he was born 4 days after my birthday. While I was pregnant with him my uncle/godfather jokingly said he wanted my son to be born on his birthday. My son tried LOL as I had some strange pains that night, but I didn't actually go into labor until the next day. So my son missed being born on my uncle's birthday by one day. LOL

My son and my father share a birthday. They are 51 years apart in age. I have 2 cousins that are brother and sister that are exactly 2 years apart in age. I have an uncle that was born on the same day as them as well.

I share my birthday with my aunt my mom's sister. We were both born on Jan 10th. The funny thing with this is my mom had my brother on May 21st and her brother our uncle was born on May 20th. So not only do I share my birthday with my moms sister my brother also shares his birthday with her brother. It is really weird how it worked out and she never planned it this way either. But that is how it ended up working out.

In my family, actually, just have once, last week, that's of my monther and her sister's son,but many times i have no change to share the same birth date. Some reasons here, too busy, too far ,have no time or weselfish excuse,so,what a pity!Wish them have a good time. but in my co-workers,there have two.we are in the same office, and it's not far from we live,so we share the birth date together.

Yeah, for me I think its cool that someone in your family has the same birthday. I actually share the same birthday with two others in the family. Not only that there alot of my family that share the same name to not like jr or the 2nd or the 3rd. But in different part of the family share the same first name.
