It is nice to take a nap if I am not feeling very well, like if I have a cold or something. Otherwise ordinarily if I take a nap during the day it is very hard for me to get to sleep at night and I toss and turn for hours on end. I guess that it messes with my natural sleep pattern. Now my husband can take a 2 or 3 hour nap no problem and as soon as his head hits the pillow at bedtime he is out like a log. Then I lay there hearing him snore and it is even worse for me!

I usually don't like afternoon naps because of the way I feel afterward. Experts say "power" naps are good for us, a 15 minute nap a day. I don't know how easy that would be for people. It's not like a lot of people can close their office door and set an alarm for 15 minutes of sleep. When I nap I wake up feeling groggy. And since I have trouble sleeping at night anyway, a nap might make it harder for me to sleep at night. But I remember the days when naps were refreshing.

I am right there with you. That is exactly how it is for me. I thought I was the only one that had that problem. It seems everyone else I know can just take a nap and they spring up and go about their day and I just get so sluggish. And then it is even harder to go to sleep at night.

I cant sleep during the day, but I do always try to lay down and take alittle rest during the day. I need to relax frequently, so I dont get carpal tunnel symdrome from typing on the computer all day and all night.

I wish I could take an afternoon nap everyday! I'm always exhausted - but with watching three children ages 4 & under (including one infant), I find it very hard to get a break! Like right now - I have all my children down for a nap but instead I finally have time to do some posts on mylot! So here I am instead of snoozing on the couch! I guess I'm a workaholic - just like I was when I was working instead of staying at home! Oh well - hope you enjoy your naps!

For me, i don't know why but after a few hours in the afternoon on the PC, at approximately 5.30pm, i always have the urge to sleep. I can feel the quality of it because i felt refreshed and i don't feel tired after awhile. I do recommend some sleep if you lack the 7 hour sleep before that.

I alway try to take a nap. I use the excuse that my 4 year old needs a nap but mostly it's for me. We always lay down together and talk for several minutes and then go to school. It's a really big deal for him and I sorta a bonding monument.

I'll just feel very frust every time I wake up from my nap.
Maybe because of the hot weather here,
but most people here will feel very frustrated every time wake up from afternoon nap.

I love afternoon naps on Sundays. I only get a chance to take afternoon naps mostly on Sundays, otherwise on working days, it is not possible. I quite agree with you that afternoon naps help us regain our energy and rejuvenate us in the evenings and we can afford to keep ourselves awake a bit late at night also, on that day. It is always better to take nap with my better half, along side me.....LOL!
Have a grat day!

I usually always take an afternoon nap. I don't feel guilty for it at all. Why should I? There is nothing wrong with the little cat naps in the afternoon. I take them cause I don't sleep too well at night. I have a back injury and sleep on average 2 - 3 hours a night so a little hour or two nap in the afternoon is not going to make much difference.

I like afternoon nap. But when working I can hard enjoy this. Sometimes I just sleep on my seat, this is not good you know, but if I don't take this rest, I can't be refreshed in the afternoon. I tried to sleeping in the meeting room, there is a lounge, but the aircondition is so cold. The best afternoon nap is the weekend however.

I just can't sleep in the afternoons... even if I'm tired. It's something unnatural for me ^^.

I love my afternoon naps and have for a long time. Now that I'm not working, I'm cinstantly disturbed during them so my delicious 2 hour naps are now unsatisfactory 1 hour naps...if I'm lucky!
Sometimes my nap can be the best sleep I have in a 24 hour period. I become terribly lethargic in the afternoons and the best thing is to have a kip. Since I've been unable to satisfactorily nap layely, I have found myself dropping off during the morning, sometimes within an hour of rising. I have also been sleeping later which also unsettles me and makes me groggy.
I think it's all to do with are bodily rhythms and as we are all different so are our rhythms.

Sometimes I do. When I was pregnant with my second boy, I used to take a nap when the oldest one was taking his. With a toddler while being pregnant, I needed to get all the rest I could take LOL Now I only take a nap if I had a bad night. And I can enjoy it, really.

I think they have proven that taking afternoon naps helps you to live longer. I usually rest in the afternoon if I can. I can never really sleep during the day. I would have to be exhausted for that. Alittle afternoon nap does the body good.

I don’t always take a nap in afternoon. But mostly I would do when I feel I need it. After all, I feel more energy back after taking a nap, and my mind would be clearer than not taking it.
However, due to some rush in finishing projects (I am working at home nowadays), I can’t take a nap, so usually I would do it on weekends when it is resting time from work. :)
