How do you contribute to your community and the enviornment?

As money is tight for us at the moment, I am unable to use monetary contributions. However, our entire family takes care to help those who are in our community. Holiday dinners here end with plates of food put together and delivered to elderly neighbors who do not have family or have not gone to dinner with friends. In bad weather, my children and husband will make the walk to the neighbors to see if they have everything they need to make it through, and go back to shovel their driveways or clean off their cars. Things that we no longer use in our house, such as clothing in great shape that doesn't fit is either recycled into lap blankets or inexpensive craft gifts to send to our elderly in the community who once again, have no family to see to them in the area. It is our plan in the near future to work with our community to plan recreational events such as basketball tournaments or chaperoned dances to keep our children busy and out of trouble. There are many things that we can do to help our communities that do not cost us anything more than time!

First of all it must start with ourselves. Throwing and sorting the garbage, disposing it properly will surely help the environment and the community we live in. Recycling is another one and cleaning our yard is a must. Discipline is what we need to save our environment, lessen the pollution and plant more trees.
