Here's mine: My uncle who was a bachelor live with us until he died of stroke. He had a peculiar attitude, since he was a bachelor he seldom came home early from work. Since he comes home late he eats alone and wash his own dish. We have a two story house that made of wood naturally in the dead of night I could hear him eating, the way his utensils made sounds, the way he washes his plates after eating and one thing I can't forget the way he walks. Every night I could remember hearing those. The day he died, he had a stroke, collapsed in his room. We heard a thug and his moan, Me and my mother went downstairs since his room was on the ground floor to check what's wrong. Unfortunately, he always locked his room and we don't have a spare key. We need to break the door which caused some delay in the process. I remember seeing blood flowing down the gap of the door and we knew that he's situation was dire. He was comatose and died on his way to the hospital. At the wake, several family members gathered, since we are the first to attend we have the privilege of going home to take a nap and refresh ourselves. That first night the house seemed awfully empty. I was 5 years old and ask my mom to sleep with her because we're are the only ones at that time. For some reasons we stayed awake and sleeps eluded us.
Then the time when my uncle usually came home arrived, it was usually 10 -11 pm. First I thought I was dreaming, I heard utensils moving around down at the dining room, I thought it was our cat or something but the sound is oddly familiar, it was as if someone was eating, my uncle that was. This was followed by the sound of his footsteps so discrete you think that he's still alive. I was dumbstruck and thought I was hallucinating, I look at my mother and she looked back at me, her eyes dawned with understanding. She told me to pray and pray I did until sleep conquered me.
