I love camping and always take my dog with me when I go. We have a few choice sites that are pretty isolated so we can let him loose most of the time. If we leave and don't take him with, he gets tied up to guard the campsite.

We have two dogs and we keep them on the leash all the time while we are camping -not inside the bus of course.
Travelling through Europe every country and almost every town has different rules for dogs. In some countries you cann´t even take your dog with you if you have an American Stafford.
That´s why we take the longs retractable leashes with us.
Better a dog on a leash than trouble with the police.

Our dog is a well behaved guy. He does not need a leash as he will not run off. We take him camping all the time and he loves to explore on his own a little but he never goes far.

I don't go camping but I have two dogs and I like to take them somewhere and let them off their leashes to run. They really don't get out of my sight except for once when the one chased after some deer.
I really don't like for people to tell me what I can do with my animals. I hate keeping them on a leash. Besides it's hard for me to walk them on a leash because of my back problems. I think people get too upset about dogs not on leashes. But that's just my personal opinion. I love dogs and I realize that some people don't.
