Other people's views

How important are other people's views of you? If you like to dress funky do you care what strangers think? If you have a quirky sense of humor and have fun with life does it matter to you if you make a fool of yourself in front of strangers? If you have a physical defect does it make you self concious? I've seen several discussions where people are so concerned with their appearance and what others might think. Why is that? I'll give you an example of my own personal attitude. Two years ago I had a serious injury. If my surgery had failed I may not have been able to walk again. Because of my surgery and the therapy afterwards I am able to walk. However I was left with a really ugly scar on my leg. While at the pool one day a woman told me she was surprised I was able to show my scar in public, and wondered if I tried to "cover it up" so others couldn't see it. To be honest I was shocked by her attitude and told her so. I told her NO I don't try to cover it as I am just grateful that I can even walk! My mom taught me at a very early age to respect others, but to "march to my own drummer" so to speak. My mom had a wonderful wacky sense of humor that she never lost, right up until her passing. I do my best to try and live my life with some of that view. What do you think and how do you relate to other's views?

Yep,repect others by all means, but dont get too caught up in it all, what you think is just as important as anyone else and why really should you care tooo much what everyone else thinks.Just take time and look after yourself.

I used to care what people thought of me. Thank God i grew out of that. Now my philosophy is 'if you don't like what you see, then don't look!'
