Why are there so many Similar Interests?

I know there are are too many little things that drive me crazy. Lol. But I just have to ask this one too... I have MYLOT as one of my interests and you probably do too if you are reading this discussion. However, yesterday I commented on one of my friends discussions and when I was finished it asked me if I would like to add MYLOTS as one of my interests! MyLotS - with an S at the end! So if I'm posting this discussion under the MYLOT interest, all the people who have MyLotS with the S as their interest are missing out on this and other discussions. And likewise there are probably many discussions going on in the one with the S but I don't get notified of them because I only have the one without the S set as one of my interests. Why are there so many different interests that are nearly the same? Do I have to add all the different spellings as my interests just to be in on all the discussions? That seems crazy. Mylot should have some setup that warns a person if there is already an interest by the same or similar name before someone gets it started. Don't you think so? Or am I the only one bothered by these trivial things?

Alright Mr. Smartypants, Lol! I would, but how many more are out there? Actually, I just noticed, the one I have in my interests is Mylot.com, So there might be a Mylot and a Mylots and maybe even a Mylots.com! What about dogs...is there a dog without the S? And cats without the S? What if I added them ALL to my interests, how would I choose which one I want to pick to start a discussion? It would drive me crazy! ....well...Crazier!

Uncross your eyes mom! Make sure you can add an "S", like toy and toys, car and cars, you get the idea. Don't go crazy on me mom, you're the sane one.

That's because people can personally add their own interest. I think that a lot of times people don't realize that there was already an interest that was created for something and they remake it and so that's why there's so many of one interest. It doesn't get annoying but I just hit no or skip when that happens to me.

Hmm..u have a point, i did add mylot, but i never bothered to add mylots, i always thought both could be the same, but of course not. You r right ppl in either one of them would miss out on discussions. Well the thing about mylot is...we can never contact them,.,,.i mean there is no1 to post our queries and expect them to respond. So i guess this is all we can do, discuss about it

Oh, it bothers me. I remember when I was filling out my interests for the first time on mylot. I got to certain items and got the strangest feeling that I'd already selected that particular interest. Then it happened again and again and again. No wonder it took so long!

This could also be under mylotters? Like you I think it should be under one heading mylot, its not petty but more annoying. There will always be doubling up on discussions for this reason?

I find it sort of irritating, yeah. There are like a zillion different "Internet" categories. I think it'd be pretty awesome if myLot would go through and combine all the ones that are the same/very similar so that we would be able to see all the discussions, not miss out because one category has an 's' or the 'i' in internet is capitalized.
