Help! There's weird noises coming out of my kitchen drain.

Just now, I was doing the dishes and my drain started making really weird noises. Not sure why. It sounded like a loud sucking noise. I have no clue about the workings of drains. Just that water comes out of the faucet and then goes down the drain. So, I don't know if this is a normal sound or not. I backed up quickly and ran out of the room. Not so much to get away from the sound but more so, to avoid doing the dirty dishes! LOL! Have you ever heard sounds coming from your kitchen or bathroom drain? Do you ever use weird noises or other ridiculous excuses to avoid unpleasant household chores?

LOL I have never thought of that as an excuse before beauty but it is a very good one! Sounds like it might have been partially blocked and was managing to clear itself but still safer to avoid the sink and the dishes altogether! xxx

See! I knew someone else would see my logic on this one. Why risk it? Just leave the dishes and flee!

It sounds like there may have been a minor blockage in the drain that managed to clear itself and that's what made the strange noise. But, I gotta admit, that's a great excuse to avoid doing them dishes LOL

Very possibly! I just plunged the sink yesterday, so maybe some of the blockage got stuck down in the cross section of pipes. It's a double sided sink and always stopping up. Growing up, I thought such a sink would be cool. Not so much that I have to deal with one!

Oh yes it happens and thats perfectly normal.But if you leave your dirty dishes in the sink for long then you might really get dirty slimy rodents popping into your sink and that surely will make you run for your life!!!

We live near woods so I am familiar with those critters. I try to keep things cleaned up as I can. There was that one pan that I had to throw away though. It was beyond repair!

Hello dear beauty queen. I think that this weird noise from the kitchen drain might be the noise of a rat, which is fond of staying in places like that. But I hope that you will try to make the rats away from the drain so that they won't do further damage to the property in the house. Stay safe.

I hate it when I hear weird noises that I cannot explain! I do exactly the same, I run from it and refuse to go back until I know it has gone. If my hubby is about I send him to investigate, he will get to the bottom of any strange noises if he can!

Yes, mine had to plunge the sink yesterday. Actually I started the job and he ran over to get the plunger away from me. I did not resist his offer of help.

I avoid them until my other half does them ;-) well generally! I do most of the other household chores so I figure dishes shouldn't really be argued at. As for a good way of clearing drain, get some soda crystals (about 50p) and follow the instructions on the back. Its brilliant for loads of other things too!

Maybe its just air pressure or a rat was messing with your drain.To be sure, better call the plumber.
