Ive just replied to another post which has made me ask this question. If you use a posh supermarket are you any different from someone who uses a cheaper shopping outlet/supermaket??????
An article I was reading seemed to think that your statrus in life is measured by the supermarket that you use!!!
Well what a load of rubbish..what do you say??????

LOL!!!
Yes that is rubbish!!!
I do admit they have more money to spend.
But then again I have seen rich people that were
very stingy .
Looked at every penny.
That maybe how they got rich.LOL
No, it does not matter what supermarket you go to.
Just be happy with being yourself.
Don't worry about what someone else thinks.
Take care, Margajoe

Yep it is a load of rubbish, we have a lot of folks round where I live who think they are something and like to boast about how they shop in waitrose, and marks and sparks for their food as if they are loaded.
I happen to know that they live on credit cards so poohey to them, I have no credit cards and no debts simply because I live in my means and shop at the cheapest places I can find. I have more than them and eat just as well if not better!

Oh Rose that article that I read in the mail where she was a Waitrose shopper and she deigned to go and visit Lidls and Aldis ...well she had hernose stuck tghat far into the air ,if I had been near her I think that I would have punched her on the end of it!!!!..my son is a cklassic example of being reckless with his money..ok he has an excellent job, extremely well paid...but he goes to Marksys and buys their tea..and this is on a regular basis!!!and it costs him what I may spend on half a weeks shopping for that one tea!!!..I just dont get it.....but he lives in London and we popped up last year and we stayed the night..well Dad and I wanted some breakfast..so lol we said Oh whats in the fridge son?...Oh he says...no worries im popping out to buy some hot bacon rolls for your breeakfast!!!...now mw being me I couldnt understand this one little bit...a loaf of bread ..a half a pound of clover and a pack of bacon was what I needed...Dad and I were in total despair at the lack of meaning of value of money they had!!!!...but never the less we love them both to bits...

I feel if you use a high end supermarket just as a status symbol you are not too bright cause the prices can be triple what you pay else where. I shop at publix (even though the store is higher end there prices beat winn dixie), food lion, savalot, and walmart. Winn dixie even though the store is old is too high priced for me. I try to shop as frugally as possible. I get a lot of my veggies and fruit at the farmers market. but the number one place I shop is the commissary. the prices on meat cannot be beat and all the prices beat supermarket prices.

hmm shopping in different supermarket definitely makes people different. isn't that the definition of different?
i also tend to agree that a person's status in life is measured by the supermarket used to a certain extent. just calm down and think about it. if you are in the lowest social class, will you visit those supermarkets that sell all organic products? similarly, those in the upper social class won't be seen in a thrift store because they can afford to pay more for fresher products. that's life, and it's the way this society works. i for one visit thrift stores cause i simply can't afford to shop in gourmet supermarkets. cheers.

I don't have a choice of supermarket to use where I live just now, unless I want to drive for miles. But previously I was an Asda or Tescos gal.
I think shopping in a posh supermarket just to show your status proves nothing apart from that you have more money than sense!
If I did have tonnes of cash to splash, I'd definately be frequenting the Waitrose deli counter though. Closely followed by their cake counter ...

Waitrose do yummy fruit flan thingies which are just divine. I'm not a big fruit flan gal, preferring normally that my cakes be encased with chocolate, but these beat everything else. They put some squashy stuff in the middle which just begs to be licked and then put slsightly tangy raspberries and icing sugar on top. I'm hooked!
