ok i own a property that has a few rentals on it. i worked with this girl and thought ok she is alittle strange but she needed a place to live she said that she had a couple of cats me thinking like 2 said ok no problem are the indoor. well she moves in and brings 11 cats with her. i didnt relize it at first and then i walked over to that part of the property and cats were looking out all the windows. well we said no way to many. still she keeps bring back more. ok there is no ac in the house we use window units and you have to get your own. no big deal the pawn shops sell them for like 35.00 each. she has got one yet 3 months later. the cats are locked up all day in the house no air no window open. i found out that they have had 4 die already. they have put bug spray that you use out side the house on the cats trying to kill fleas. all the cats when they do escape and get out side look sick. the house smells so bad we will never get the smell out. it is horriable. we have no animal control, no animal shelter, no body to call to help these cats. now i think they are moving and leaving them all here. the pound charges 25.00 an animal to be dropped off i cant afford that. why are people so horriable?

Try calling the local ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). If you are not sure where to look, try calling your local vet and explaining your situation to them. Ask what you can do and what your options are, and tell them how sick the cats are. Some vet clinics will take in some cases such as that for free, but there are no guarantees. Also, they may give you the number for a local ASPCA or somewhere where you can bring the animals to for help for free or for a less troubling fee. It is SICKENING how these people treat their animals. Bug spray for flea prevention? Do they realize that there are chemicals in bug spray that will make the cat sick? I am sorry that these people put you in such a terrible position, and sorry that they have done so much damage to these cats.

they wont help me cause i am in no city limit so they say ok call the one in this city call them and they say call this city etc. i called one time before cause a dog got lose showed up in my yard with a chain collar inbedded in its neck. i called sherifs dept, shelters , vets everything and no one would help the dog without money. it is really sad cause we seem to get dumped off animals here all the time, we have 3 dogs now that showed up about 4 months ago and well everyone on the property just feeds them left overs and we all chip in for dog food so they dont starve they dont belong to anyone though. all the kids play with them and they sleep on whoevers porch.

That is really, really sad, that people just dump their animals when they can no longer take care of them, and expect other people to do it for them. I am glad that you all are chipping in to help the dogs. Perhaps start a collection around the area, and ask people if they can chip in to afford sending these animals somewhere? I know that you are doing all that you can to help, but these animals are sick, and do need some sort of help. I hope for the best for you, the cats, and the dogs.

You might try to contact this place: http://www.enchantedlandsanimalrescue.org I don't see anywhere on their site that they charge for surrender, and they are committed to helping abused and neglected animals.

I also found this information about your area shelter: Question: Can residents residing within the city limits use the animal control and protection facility? Answer: Yes, residents can bring any unwanted or stray animal to the facility at NO COST.

There has to be a Humane Society in the state some where that you can report her too.

You first have to realize that these people have serious mental problems. They are classified as animal hoarders and need professional help. You need help, and I would contact the sheriffs department and if there is a mental health department I would also contact them. You are being terribly victimized by these people, and not only do you have to help these animals but also yourself. I have watched the situation on Animal Planet and they have shown the houses the hoarders live in, the houses are worse than filthy. They are infested with roaches, ants, rats, mice and other vermin. The hoarders don't dispose of their trash properly and they don't have litter boxes for the cats so there is cat urine and cat feces throughout the house. The pound should also be alerted and so should the sheriffs office as there is damage to your personal property that you shouldn't be held responsible for repairing. If they won't help, contact an attorney about the situation and also contact your local newspaper about the situation...the public outcry will spur the authorities into action. It also will cause the governmental officials to look at their policies on dealing with neglected animals outside the city limits. If nothing else, if you have a key to the house, open the locks and let the cats out. This comes under the category of landlord rights and the issue of threatening the neighbors health. As for people being so horrible, they feel that they are doing the animals a favor turning them loose in the country. The figure that the animal will survive on what it can scrounge and someone in the country will adopt them. They don't stop to think about the possibility of the animal being hit by a car, killed by a wild animal or picking up a disease and dieing horribly. They just figure it's kinder than putting the animal in the pound or animal control where there is a possibility of the animal being adopted or if the animal isn't adopted being put to sleep humanely. Thinking on it, I would contact the local paper first...it would also prevent these people from snookering their way into another place and doing the same thing to another landlord.

maybe she was trying to save these homeless cats the best that she knew. when i had my dogs and i used to fog the house, i used to take my late dogs out in the car with me and my late cat, i kept her in another room with the door closed and the windows opened wide, while the other rooms were being fogged. i dont think she knows any better. she is just trying to save homeless cats. get some animal lovers in your area to get together and do something to help these cats.

cat is a lovely animal, isn't it ? but i really can not afford to take care of all the sick cats around the street. what i can only do is to bring them some food. i hope the government may establish related apartment to deal with this problem.

What does the lease say? Do you have a limit on how many pets she can have? I would start the eviction process on the basis of her not maintaining the property and breaking her lease terms so that you can legally get her out. You will get the smell out but will have to rip out all the carpet, dry wall, etc.

There has to be someone you could call. How about the tv station or radio and try to give some of them away. There has to be somewhere that you can report animal cruelty.

While it is very true what she has done(and is doing) is wrong,I wonder also of her NEED to keep animals .She may not be totally balanced and has emotional problems and this is the only way for her to survive.I would usually comment on how we seem to be in an immediate gratification society with little worry of long-term consequences of our actions, but I think this person may be suffering mentally/emotionally and would benefit from professional help.It may not be too late to save her from herself.
