Ever seen those kitchen knives sold door to door by Cutco?

Two days ago, a young neighbor who is home from college for the summer came knocking on our door to show us his Cutco products. He wanted to demonstrate the products he is selling (as a summer job). Well, we invited him in and he whipped out this red felt-looking bundle that he laid out on our dining room table. Slowly unrolling the felt package, he revealed several shiny kitchen knives by Cutco! Now, I am not one of those people who has to have the latest new thing nor am I considered a "big shopper." But these Cutco knives were beautiful! Plus, there were several other kitchen utensils and even pocketknives and gardening tools made by Cutco. I did end up ordering some of the knives. The handles are molded to fit perfectly in your grip, whether you are left handed or right-handed. They felt very comfortable as I held them. I've never seen such snazzy-looking knives! And there is a choice of color for the handles: either black or white! Anyway, my questions are: 1--have you ever heard of Cutco knives? 2--If so, what do you think of them? and 3--Are you picky about the knives you use in the kitchen for meal preparation? PearlGrace

I tried selling Cutco knives as a teenager! I had to buy a set of them in order to demonstrate the benefits of the products! Those were the best knives I ever had! Preparing food was so easy. The company explained to us that it was easier to hurt yourself if you are using a dull blade! I really wish I still had mine, but when we moved across the country, we had to leave them behind! You will not be sorry, I am guarantee you that much!

Here is the link! http://www.cutco.com/home.jsp it shows the new white handles that you mentioned! Thanks for the compliment! IT was just about the only thing I ever tried to sell! Yes, it was too expensive for most people, and if they have just one good knife it will be enough to do most of the work! Mine were the older ones, on the right, and there was no reason to ever use the whole set at once! But it was nice, including the tiny steak knives that cut just about anything without a struggle! The reason it was worth it, the company said, was that most people have to replace their knives and get them sharpened often! It showed us that these knives do not wear out!

Hello olivemai. You are an absolute doll to respond to my myLot discussion about Cutco knives! I am thrilled to hear from someone that has sold them and used them for a period of time. I tell you, they were so beautiful--when I saw those Pearl white handles and how great they cut--I had to have a couple of them. My husband was very impressed. He even said I could have bought the whole set!! I don't think I need THAT many knives, but I am excited about the ones we did order. Again, thanks for your personal testimony that these are great knives. Take care. PearlGrace

The good people marketing Cutco keep sending me information about jobs, but I'm not for selling door-to-door. Needless to say, I've seen a lot of their products. Most of them look really great, but it's just not something I'd personally be willing to spend extra cash on anytime soon.

Thanks for your reply, rpegan. I can relate, there's no way I could be a door to door salesperson for anything. Well, I actually sold Avon about 35 years ago. Anyway, these knives look great and I am beginning to hear really great things about them. Thanks again. PearlGrace

Hello sunkissed. Glad to hear from another person who at least knows someone who says these knives are good. The demonstration is pretty interesting, isn't it? The Cutco knife is apparently quite popular. I can't believe I'd never heard of them until last Friday. Thanks for your response, sunkissed. PearlGrace
