Does your toilet back up often?

How often does your toilet back up in your house? Have you ever had to live in a situation where your toilet did not work at all? Sometimes when it rains a lot in our area, we have lots of problems with the septic system and our toilet backs up almost daily. I guess we have old pipes or something. About a year ago, the neighbors got mad when they moved out because they couldn't get their deposit back and dropped bricks down into the septic system. And, it backed up all the toilets on the block. I hope someone sued them for all the trouble they caused. We had a real mess to deal with.

Oh how awful beauty! I have never had to deal with this in my own house but there was a problem with my gran's toilet last year and it backed up several times. Eventually my brother in law got out special rods to clear a blockage down the drain and there have been no more problems since! xxx

Yeah it is such a scary thought that your children will get ill from something like this isn't it? Here's hoping you don't have to face it ever again! xxx

Yes, it was bad. I was concerned that the little one would get sick. I am so protective of her and her health. I cleaned constantly for three days and worried a lot. All is well now. We got someone out to handle the problem quickly. I will just pick up my family and take everyone to a hotel next time it happens until the issue is resolved!

Yeah, it was so super mean, cause it ended up hurting everyone on the block and not just them. They just did it and ran away like cowards cause they couldn't get their deposit money back. Thanks for your comments. It was nice to chat with you! Have a good day.

Hi There, I have 3 toilets in my house and they seem to take turns on breaking down! I am not sure why I have such lousy luck with toilets. I have had 3 floods in my house because of them. I am at the point now where I know I should just buy new toilets, but they are expensive and I really dont want to throw my money "down the toilet" :) cheers,

I hear you! My front toilet is permanantly on the disable list until I have the money to buy a new one. The pipes are fine in there. But the little thing in the back won't stay down to let water fill the tank. So, it leaks water from the tank all over the place. I had to shut the water supply off to it. Money down the drain as they say!

Toilet problems are awful! After I moved into my apartment, my landlord told me that I would have to put toilet paper in the trash can instead of the toilet because the toilet always backs up. I wish she had told me this BEFORE I moved in lol. OH well. It's otherwise a decent place with very cheap rent.

Oh, the price of cheap rent! I've gotten "deals" like that too. There's always a catch for me.

A septic system shouldn't be backing up into your house if it's working properly. It sounds like there's a problem...maybe it needs to be cleaned out or the drain field isn't working right. We have a septic system at our house and my daughter has one next door, too. At one time, before she moved in over there, the toilet was backing up and we had to have the septic tank pumped out (we're the owners) which fixed the problem. Recently my husband noticed water on the ground next to the tank cover so he investigated and found that there was a blockage going into the drain field which he corrected and it's working fine now.

Over the years, I can only remember at most 2 incident wherein our toilet didn't work. The last time it didn't flush was because my daughter flush a bent plastic spoon in the toilet. We just found out about it when we had it fixed. Luckily, our toilet works all the time.
