Affordable Luxuries

Back when I was in college, in my marketing classes we would talk about the concept of affordable luxuries. Basically it's just something that you splurge a little bit on. I believe that is the very basic idea, it may not be exact (it's been a while since I was in marketing classes). It also can be defined in a couple different ways (so let's just go with what I said above :P ) A Couple Examples: Like maybe you treat yourself to Starbucks coffee before work instead of just making coffee at home. You're splurging a little tiny bit and feeling like you are treating yourself, but you're not spending a ton of money. Or maybe instead of splurging on a trip to a spa, you buy bubble bath and candles to create a luxurious vibe at home for way less. It's just something your treat yourself to without breaking the bank. So what would you consider your 'affordable luxuries'? (or those of your family)

My affordable luxury is my bowling league. Even though sometimes I could use that 20 bucks a week for other things, bowling is my once a week get out of the house by myself time. My wife calls it my boys night out because the rest of the week I am either with her or with her and my teenage daughter. I need that break from the women LOL

That's a good one. You treat yourself to a night out of bowling. I bet it's nice to have time with the guys when you're spending so much time with the women in your life =)

Although they think they drive me crazy being around them all the time, I really think it's the other way around. They probably need the girls night out more than I need the boys night out LOL

I would consider it when I've finished a class at University and decide to grab some food on campus rather than walking home to get something to eat. I try not to do it too often, but sometimes it's nice not to cook for yourself!

I would do that, too, when I was in college. It's just a nice little treat after a day of classes to not have to cook =)
