There once was a little boy who had a bad temper.
His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.
The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence.
Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger. The number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.
Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.
The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, 'You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same.'
When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say "I am sorry", the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.
I found this to be so true and it has helped me control my temper.Hope it has that effect on you too.

Very nice story and how right you are about the verbal wound! There is a couplet by a famous poet that even an injury caused by fire would heal but the lash that is given by the tongue would leave a mark that is permanent.
Of course it is very crisply staed in 7 words in our language.

this is a great story to help one to control her anger'and it would be good to practice this ocassionally.lol. It is so
easy to lip off whenyou are angry and almost impossible to
undo the harm you have caused. verbal wounds hurt just as
bad as physical wounds. the old saying about wo rds will never hurt me is a bunch of crap, not true. words do wound and wound'
badly.

Hi there!, I would say It was a nice post with great lesson to learn. I am also having a hard time controlling my anger, when Im angry, I make sure that the reason why or the person who cause me to feel that way will be receiving the most hate I have. That's usually my action whenever I get angry. But I have learned to control my anger little by little before it ingulps me.
With your post, I know that I have to continue doing it until such time I fully hold myself and practice it for the rest of my life.
