I have started several discussions and I noticed on 3 of them I have had 0 responses. Does anyone have any suggestions on possibly why this is happeneing? At first I thought maybe because it wasn't interesting enough but then I see that people respond to the most random topics so is there something I can do when posting that will have more people see my discussions and hopefully respond? Sometimes when I start a discussion, I do not choose a category or interest I just choose general discussion, do you think this can be a reason why? Any suggestions anyone is willing to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hie Risris, perhaps Mylotters didn't notice it and found something else that attract their interest better. I have a few too since few weeks ago and I had one in General Discussion which surprisingly had few responses compared to the ones that I included in the individual interest category. Perhaps the topics have to be posted at the right timing or else it will be replaced by the new ones and once it is too backwards, no one will get a chance to notice it again. Does it make sense what I am saying...lol Anyway what are your topics, I will try my best to answer them/

Awwwww thank you. I don't actually mind is no one responds since it is a hit or a miss, but I actually posted a question looking for information about buying flip flops at a wholesale price an din bulk for a home business i have started and just looking for any information that anyone could offer. I figured this is a better place than any to get answers. It is possible I guess that no one actually knows an answer to that one. and I posted that under interests flip flops, figured I couldn't get more specific than that an dif anyone ould know it would be people who had that category under their own interests. Who knows maybe eventually I will get an answer.

Zero response - Zero..
This situation will happened to everyone in mylot.. I think all the mylot have any of their discussions still shows the "Zero" responses.. This does not mean that, those discussions are bad or something.. if you have a look at the "discussions with no responses", you can find more and more very good and very informative discussion, but which has not been attract the people at that time of start the discussion, when it appear in the first pages of the said catagory. And most of the people in mylot, will concentrate on the "Totay's top discussions" and "discussions my friends started".. and they will give the preferrence to this catagory.. and some of the people like me, will have a look at the discussions with no responses catagory, how many discussion shall be handled by us, in a minute so many disucssion has been generated, but for me to respond any of the discussion it will take a minimum of 5 to 10 minutes.. some time i used to take more time also, by this time more and more discussion will be in the pipeline, like that the discussions are accumulated in the catagory of "discussions with no response" So, some of the discussions of the every members kept as "zero" responses for very long times.. If you put the proper tag, if any of the other discussion, which is having the same catagory of tag, if any one start responding those discussions, they can able to find the same under the discussion, "Similar discussion" column, there is a possibility of your discussion have a chance to appear there.. to help you to get the responses.. for this reason only everyone should insist to put the Tag for every discussions and responses..

How so is it different, I thought by people rating you positive or negative that's how the star rating fluctuates. Can you explain, because now i am even more confused.?

I absolutley put tags on every topic I am involved with. I am not so concerned with 0 responses but I am looking for the responses because poeple rate us and those ratings go up so without responses how will that get done? There are so many things I am learning here on Mylot that I cannot get it all done in one day. I tend to look at new discussions when I am on mylot so I can be one of the first to offer a response so as to avoid answering ones that already have 15 responses and giving the same answer.

Well that really happens! I also have around 3 posts with no reply but I don't really mind, I just keep on posting every topic I find useful and meaningful and I suggest you do the same. Don't be affected with no responses, just continue posting and enjoy it to the max!

i think everyone does.. some of mine were posted in the smaller interest so that might have been some of the problem and you have to figure in that some people only check their friends out or sign up and never sign back on (so the numbers in the interest might not be actually who looks) with things i post i put all kinds of tags that do have to do with it but use a lot of the words in the post and make it easier to pick up in a less specific search.. i.e. why i love boys i would tag it boys, romance, love, relationships, (etc etc) unusual discussions help.. and just because people choose certain interest doesnt mean they will constantly check out those.. how many people that put they read a certain book will look into that topic?? i know if i read it and there wasnt much interesting in it i wouldnt think there would be anything interesting posting wise.. the more friends the better since they will check out your post.. and i dunno of anything else but i hope this helps

I think sometimes we post on the wrong interest or not post on an interest at all. This could be quite disorderly since people tend to look for topics that suits the way they think or what really stimulates their interests. Most probably they'll look on their interests so if you happen to have the same interest, the more chances that one would respond to your discussion. It is also possible that the topic you started is insignificant or not catchy. And yes, I've had 0 responses on some of my discussions too. We just have to work hard.

I guess from all the responses I have received on thi stopic it is safe to say that people tend to search for topics many different ways so it is better to start a discussion and tag it with as many keywords as possible so it can be found easier by people.

As a MyLot veteran, even I have discussions that have zero responses, and most of my discussions actually have very good resources or great laughs in them! :) Don't allow this to stop your flow. I enjoyed writing them, and reading them, too! I'll often re-edit them, and use the article elsewhere, it gains a really good response! :) Have a laugh on me, for all your hard work, and keep on posting! :) http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1101136.aspx

Hello there, there are many reasons. Personally I think 1) because it is a boring discussion 2) the discussion is not fully or well explained that the mylotters do know how to respond 3) could be the discussion has been talked about by others. Anyway, there is always a solution for everything. If you can respond my 3 unresolved discussions, I will respond yours as well. How do you think?

Well, i do also met similar situation :-( What a pity! I started a discussion about snow disaster in China early in January but for a considerable long time there was no response, maybe people hadn't experienced the same thing they just don't know what to say. Or maybe they just do not like this kind of post. The only response i got in this post is from a nice lady whose post i had responded to. Later i posted something about suggestions about American Parliament debate but no response~~ I'm also looking forward to suggestions from successful mylotters! Just have a nice day~!

I too have many discussion from which I got no response. It's not because that it's not interesting but people don't get too specific sometimes. I mean most people respond to general discussion. The other thing is also that people sometimes don't specify their interests clearly resulting in discussion not reaching to the interested people.

How come? Maybe you have no friends that are possibly to help you gain more responses or maybe your topic is not that interesting at all? There are actually different factors that contribute to how your discussions fair up when it comes to responses. Anyway, I think it really would be better to have your discussions be contained in one of the interests most people actually have in them so that they could consider visiting it sometime. Personally I only look for discussions more often here in the sidebar whatever discussion is on hand under one of my interests. Well, hope this would help you! XD

That seems to be the general consensus so I am going to try changing the way I have been doing it previously to putting them under a specific category. Hopefully that will help. Thank you.

I too have some discussions with zero responses. Maybe it is because the topic did not interest many mylotters. Only if the topic is catchy they will read the discussion and only if they read it they will comment on it. Also in the beginning i did not used to add tags. That is a big mistake. You have to search for key words in your discussion and add them as tags . Only then your discussion will pop up more and more people will get to read it. And choosing the disussion to be under specific topics or interests is also necessary i think. It will guarantee more responses. happy mylotting

I make sure I tag every discussion I am involved in but I do not tend to choose a specific category or interest when starting a discussion and lik eyou said I think that's important. I am going to try it several different ways to experiment and see whats best. Thank you for your help.

Putting your discussion in the general discussion could be a reason. People see recent discussions from their interests on the left side of their discussions page. If your discussion isn't in any of their interests then they won't see it unless they go looking elsewhere. I have plenty on discussion with no responces. Don't take it too personally. There are so many discussions being started every minute. It's easy for one to get lost. Just repost.

That's what I was thinking, I just figured at first it wouldnt matter much since I tend to search new discussion so I figured it would be picked up there. I am just looking on ways to improve on here since I am fairly new and learning as I go.

A title means a lot to a discussion. I have seen many of discussions have few answers because the title didn't draw attention. Consider what is the true point or question that you are asking. This seems to have done well. :)

hey there I thought I owuld respond to this as I have had the same issue, but I dont think there is anything you can do and I dont think it is about what your topic it is. I think there is so much stuff on here that people tend to look in the same topic area or just stick with talking to there friends they have made. The longer your a member on here I think it is easier it gets to get people to respond, I just normally stick to responding to people and not starting the chats. Hope this is ok for you

There are some important things to get respond. First, you need to have a lot of friends on your friends list. At least 20 friends on the friend list. Second, you need to post the discussion on popular categories, like people, mylot, watching movies, reading, and life. Don't post on categories that only have few member in it. Third, make your title interesting. Fourth, make your avatar stands out. If your avatar stands out, it makes it easy to recognize. People tend to know someone else in mylot from their avatar. The last thing, if all of those still not work out, post a request to make other people respond to your no respond discussions. I hope this will help you. Good luck.

I have started somewhere around 6 discussions and of the 6 only 3 had no responses, until today. Now I have only 1 that has not been answered. You will learn, as will I the more time we spend on here. Good Luck!
