i never shop at the mall.. i always go to the thrift shops unless its jeans since they rarely have the styles i like in my size.. and when i go shopping for jeans i go to walmart.. i get people asking me where i buy my clothes and they are shocked when i say goodwill etc.. but i just dont believe clothes are worth the money people pay for them!! if i am wearing a name brand you better believe i paid like 3 bucks at good will to get it lol.. any one else a thrift store aholic?

I am kind of both, a brand name lover and a thrift shopper. My visits to markets does not depend on the articles, If I have previously heard or has seen something good and what I want then I'll probably go to that shop or I'll straight away walk into a mall having branded showrooms.

I like going to thrift stores to see what I can find but (in some cases anyway), thrift stores in my area charge more then Walmart. I mean arent these places supposed to be non-profit? I do love going to the mall and seeing the latest styles and usually buying one or two items. When I go to the mall, its more for fun then actually just to buy something. In all honesty, I have enough clothes to last me a long time if I couldnt buy anything again. I just like to keep my wardrobe up to date. Cheers, Tianna

yeah im pretty stocked up except for jeans since i lost so much weight and now getting back to a normal weight and i was stupid and had already given them away lol.. good will can some times be ridiculous so its better to go on their sales.. i know the ones that are supported by churches or charity can some times be outrageous so i stay away from them

I love my thrift stores! I don't have a need for fancy clothes since I don't work outside the home. I have a hard time finding jeans to fit, but I rarely pay full price for shirts and blouses and such. I either buy on sale at a 'regular' store or find what I need at the thrift store. I've found designer purses for $5 or less and pictures and other items for my home too. It's foolish to pay a hefty price when you don't have to.

i feel sorry for those people that are slaves to brand name things.. i always wonder if i were to be a celebrity (yeah right) if i would be a name brand slave or keep my goodwill thrift store addiction..

I can not see paying a fortune for clothes that my boys are going to wear out or outgrow in a couple of months. I bought my youngest son (12) a pair of dress shoes (in May) and two weeks later they were too small (middle of a growth spurt). So yes i shop yard sales, goodwill, salvation army, thrift stores (especially like the Church thrift shops)and consignment stores because i have more important things to do with our money!

I buy from the mall a lot of times especially when I need jeans and shoes. My favorite must-visit shops include Zara, Topshop, and Bayo ( a local retailer here in the Philippines). I also like the Nike women's collection. However, I also love to buy clothes at bazaars where prices are way cheaper. There are usually a lot of overruns at the bazaars here in the Philippines which I think are a steal. :) I've never gone to a thrift store before I'd rather pay more for things that will last longer. It's quality over quantity and fashion for me. :)

there are a lot of rich people that buy something and wear it once then sell it at a yard sale or donate it to a thrift store so if you find the right one you can get some things with the tags still on.. i found a pair of jlo jeans that dont look like they had even been worn.. some airwalk shoes that were in good shape.. the gap and old navy stuff are at a lot of places..

u may be rite, but i don't think so.because if u buy a low cost cloth u will feel the uncomfort on ur skin, but i do agree that big brand charge much more than they worth.use ur brain and experience while shopping in a theft shop.

well like i said a few up i have found clothes that are name brand that some one bought and wore once then donated it to a thrift store so it wouldnt always be choosing price over quality if you really know how and where to look

I would have to say that with the exception of underclothes, intimate stuff and socks 90-95% of what I buy is at the thrift store. I just recently bought my first brand new pair of jeans at the regular store in years on sale for $9. I find so many new quality, if not never worn clothing at the thrift store it is amazing. The idea that there are people who will buy a piece of clothing at full price, wear it a few times and discard it to me is just crazy. I keep mine until they are thread bare but if someone wants me to buy their $50 shirt for $2 who am I to say no.

When it comes to clothes I am exclusive to certain stores and will only wear their brands. I have one store that I like to go to for sportswear. Another I go to to get my suits and a third for others clothes for work.

thats cool that you can rely on certain stores to have what you need.. a lot of stores here are too wishy washy and one day will have all kinds of things you like then not have anything for months that you can stand.. i know the stores are loving that you are loyal to them =)

Occasionally I will shop in a mall, but that has to be for a very special occassion. I hardly ever go to the mall. If I need clothing, I have purchased some at the local Lighthouse Mission, but don't often find things there. I have purchased some items at Goodwill, but ours always stinks and I can't stand the smell, so I don't like to go there very often. The favorite place for me to shop is a next-to-new type of shop called Repeat Boutique. They are nice clean clothes and some in excellent condition. Some are new. Sometimes I find things at really great prices. Sometimes I have to pass them up. It is my favorite place for capris and tops.

I agree, as I said before, even in the next-to-new shops, I sometimes pass up things because the prices are still too high for me. I have walked out of there empty-handed several times.

Even i dont like the branded shops. They are very costly. But i usually buy one in branded shop for a year on some special occasion. Basically i dont all my shopping in reduction stores or during offers. I buy all my clothes during the reduction period. Its really cool for shopping at that time as we have lots of varieties and can shop freely without thinking of the cash in my hand. Iam a gadget freak and spend a minimum of 100$ on gadgets every month. My house will be filled with gadgets ecerywhere. Iam an electronics engineer and that really sums up my gadget mind too....

I like to shop at Goodwill, yard sales, and thrift shops for my clothing. I also like to buy clothes on Clearance where I work. At Goodwill, I have bought a few nice sweaters, Alfred Dunn, that were about $4.00 each. They are nice and clean, very pretty. I bought a winter coat at a yard sale for $5.00. Thrift shops are great for getting blouses and knit tops for no more than $2.00 each. On the Clearance racks at work, I have found printed t-shirts for $1.00, jeans for anywhere from $3.00 to $7.00. I try to not pay more than $5.00 for nice knit tops. A person can save quite a bit of money on clothing by keeping an eye out for bargains at these places. I know that I haven't had to spend a lot of money by shopping in this way.

I work as an apparel processor at WalMart so I have the advantage, kinda, of keeping an eye out every day for great mark downs. :-D

You better believe it, I shop yard sales, thrift stores as well. I wouldn't purchase anything that looks like it has gone threw the washer 100 times. The store I go to have some things with the price tags on and others that are gently used. I usually go to yard sales in affluent neighborhoods, where they wear one or two times, then need to move on to something newer. I got a lovely LV pocketbook for $2.00 once. And like you, people say wow that is nice, I have no problem in saying $2.00, $3.00. LOL The computer I am using right now, was bought at a yard sale, $10.00. Wow, what a bargain. The owner said he could not shut it down, my husband brought it home, reloaded windows, and bingo, I was in business.

Me too, I love second hand shops. There is too much choice in clothes shops - it gets confusing. At least in a thrift shop there will maybe be one or two things in your size that you like and you usually get the odd surprise too. In the Uk though prices of 2nd hand things have shot up as its popular now. Ebay is also good methinks.

I don't get out to thrift stores very often, but I do like looking around them, even if I don't buy anything! I did get a purse at a Salvation Army store once, it was a victoria's secret corset purse, it looked brand new, and it was under 5 dollars, I can't remember exactly, just know it was really cheap! When I lose weight I can definitely see shopping at thrift stores for clothes, because they have stuff there sometimes that are no longer "in style" therefore not sold other places. And I tend to like all kinds of styles, new and old. So I definitely aspire to go into those stores and have pretty much can pick up anything I think is cool and pay very little for it. I typically get stuff from catalogs and occasionally wal-mart, hot topic, torrid or fashion bug. But very rarely do I find something I really love. I stick with track pants and when I'm in the mood, I'll wear jeans. But yea, I think that thrift stores have more potential than even high end stores that cost way too much!

I love shopping at thrift shops; after all, I'm getting value for my money. Besides, no one will check or ask me which brand I'm wearing. If it fits and I look good, it's fine. I wouldn't want to pay lots of money just for a brand; unless it's for comfort, like shoes.
