In fact, inhaler is not the solution for your mother. Please use Homoeopathic cures for this problem.Get R-76 drops of Dr Reckeweg,Germany and give 10 drops in some water three times a day.You will find lot of improvement.I am a Homoeo Dr and want to help your mother. She should avoid rice, apples and cold drinks.Any asthamatic patient can use these drops.

Hi thank you very much for the advice and I will certainly ask her to take that medicine. I have heard that homoeopathy can cure such chronic diseases.

Hi, You said your mother uses an inhaler twice a day. Did you know there is a way to count the doses? The reason this is important is that the inhaler can be empty before you know it is used up, and can give you a real scare. My husband found a website called Counterstrip.com, on there they sell inexpensive counters for all inhalers that do not have a counter. He used them all the time and it saved us many times from running out of his prescriptions. He took several different kinds of inhalers in a day. I hope this helps in some way your mother. My husband had COPD, and it is a terrible disease. When you are having an asthma attack remember Jesus is the answer, all it takes is saying His Lovely Name...JESUS...He knows what we have need of even before we ask of Him.

Hi I am sorry about your husband's illness. Will Asthma leads to COPD? My mother's inhaler has got doses lasts for 28 days and every 29th day she has to use a new one. The doctor gave us a demonstration how to use the inhaler and so on.... Like you I also believe in God and believe that God will help us all...

I have been asthmatic since childhood and I have been taking the inhaler everyday since then . About food other than the obvious avoiding of food she is allergic to, she should avoid OVEREATING I cant stress this enough you cannot imagine how much a distended stomach worsens asthma , in fact many doctors now think that REFLUX which is food coming out of the overfilled stomach , that reflux is responsible for a large proportion of asthma diagnoses meaning that many patients problem is primarily in their stomachs rather in the lungs or in their immune system . I made the stupid decision of starting to smoke 13 years ago , I hope your mom doesnt smoke because it only adds to the devastation caused by the disease .

Hi Shogunly I know how bad asthma is and sorry that you also are suffering from that. Many people are affected with asthma because of the pollution all over. My mother does not smoke and I think you should quit smoking as early as possible. It is not good for health. If reflux causes asthma then we can prevent asthma through preventing reflux. I think my mother should test whether she have the reflux problem and if it is, she could treat that and can have some relief from the asthma. Thanks for the information.

My entire family is asthmatic, on various levels of maintenance. There are different types of inhalers, some for on-the-spot relief, and some are twice-daily or so for regular care (like the commercials say, "ask your doctor which one is right for you"). My wheezing is more seasonal-based, depending on pollen, weather and dust, not to mention the occasional cat hair built up in my friends' apartments! But diet-wise, i'd have to agree with the mucus thing-- once i slowed down on greasy foods, dairy products and candy bars, it has been easier on me. This has gotten me to eat lots more fresh fruits and vegetables instead (nothing else left to eat but healthy stuff, anyway). Hope my personal experience helped answer your question.

Hi Goobster Thanks for responding. I wonder how every one in your family became asthmatic? From your experience I got that one should avoid such food which stimulate asthma and use of inhaler which fits you best will also help to control asthma.

Hi padmameera.Sorry to hear that mother got asthma. She sounds serious.I got asthma.Actually it genetic from my mother's side.LOL.I don't use inhaler. When i was at primary school,my asthma was quite serious.I can't get close to cat's and i can't really be active in sports because i get tired quickly and i have no energy to do so.My parents really don't know what to do but i forced myself to be close to cats and be active in sports.Really active.LOL.Now im 19 and i can hug cats and i am an active sportsman.I play all kind of sports. Now im a rugby player for my college and i play futsal everyday and i can jog non stop for 30 minutes.Sometimes,my asthma does attack, especially if i enter a house that is dusty or anything like it.It will be hard for me to breath. So,i try to keep away from it.Just an experience.Cheers.

Hi Taqinaka Thanks for sharing your experience. I think you were allegic to cat's hair and dust and the close association with them might have made you immune to them. That is very good and your lung power might have increased due to the participation in sports. My mother is also doing some breathing exercise which will increase the lung power. She developed these symptoms later and while she was young she did not have any symptoms of asthma.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I am also suffering from asthma since I was about 12 years old. I use an inhaler only as needed. I take a pill called Singulair every evening and I have found that it controls my asthma quite well. My asthma is affected by allergies as well as strenuous exercise. She may find some relief if she gets an air purifier for her home, this will eliminate even the dust you cannot see and make the air easier to breathe. I hope your mother can find something to control her asthma as well as I have.

Hi Kate Thanks for your response My mother used to take a tablet vent forte and now the doctor suggests to stop that and continue with the inhaler. I will find an air purifier which will eliminate the dust particles. I think you can control your asthma because you are not dependent on the inhaler. Try to avoid all those things which are allergic to you.

does she smoke? if she does, she should seriously think of quitting smoking. i have asthma and have had it since i was a teenager. i only use a inhaler once in awhile, like when it is super cold or hot outside or when i have a cold. foods to avoid - milk products (they thicken the mucus - i have problems even eating ice cream).

Hi cher No she does not smokes. Nobody in my house have the habit of smoking, it is not smoke. May be the milk. She takes milk every day and also drinks tea with milk. I will ask her to avoid milk for some days and see whether it will help.

I have asthma and have dealt with it for many years. Mine is allergy induced asthma. For the most part unless my allergies act up, my asthma stays quiet and goes unnoticed, sometimes for years. But this year I have had a bad flair up of allergies and this in turn has wrecked havoc with my asthma. However taking a daily dose of Singular helps reduce allergies AND asthma. I also have Loratadine to take for allergies if needed. For my asthma, I used Advair two times daily (for prevention) and carry my rescue inhaler with me and depending on my asthma symptoms, its either Combivent or Albuterol/Proventil. I also have a nebulizer at home and have Atrovent and Albuterol ready to go in the machine just in case. I have also used Prednisone in the past for bad flair ups. Prednisone works well for me however, it causes my sugar level to elevate, I retain a lot of fluid, and I get paranoid and have horrible nightmares plus I can't sleep for days while on it and then once I am totally off the medication, I sleep just about 24 hours straight. Sorry your mom has asthma. Two of my children have it and my hubby has also had problems with asthma related symptoms lately.

I am sorry that you and your family is suffering from asthma. I know how it felt like from my mother's experience. Have you find out what are the things you are allergic to. If you can avoid those materials from your home then you will get some relief.

well i am sorry to learn about your mother. instead of wasting your time better go for ayurvedic treatment. asthma as i know is not curable , but can be controlled with tight diet regime. and proper care. these inhalers are of temporary use and habit forming in nature.

Hi Juhi Is Ayurveda can control asthma? We use ayurvedic medicine for treating other ailments like body pain, sprain etc. If it is good for asthma, we will really consult an ayurvedic physician. Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi Asthama is a situation where the natural defence of the body becomes weak. Nutrition has an answer for this. If your mother gets rich antioxydent like vitamin C, it can help her to move over that particular phase of attack. My cousin had asthama problem for over 3 years and was using inhaler. We have suppliemented him with Nutrilite Bio C supplement and touchwood for last 5 years he has never got the attack. A proper dose of Vitamin C, in natural supplement form, boosts the immunity of body and helps the person to fight that phase of weakness. Hope you find this useful. Cheers
