dear muralirv I fully agree with you and I also hate using of plastic as it creates lots of hazards in our society and causing environmental problem. In India peoples are still using plsstic/poly bags which creates health hazards. A strict law is to be enforced to ban poly bags otherwise a day will come when we will not be able to sustain in the world. People should be motivated to use paper band , jute bags etc. but not to use plastic/poly bags. pkc3000

Hi I personally don't like to use plastic bags. These bags will cause environment pollution. After using the bags people with throw away the bags and they are not degradable. It is conveniet to carry groceries and things like that so people like to use them again and again even if they are hazardous to our health and environment. The produce toxic fumes when they are burned. In many countries Government banned the use of plastic bags of a certain thickness which really couses environment problems. I think the Government and the NGOs should promote the use of paper or cloth bags.

I try not to use them whenever possible now..I acquired a recyclable grocery bag/carrier and try to bring it with me for my weekly shop..my regular supermarket has a loyalty card and offers "green points" for re-using carrier bags or bringing your own. I'm in Northern Ireland..One of the German Parented supermarkets available here,Lidl, leaves out packing cartons from the products,so you can use them instead of a carrier bag-the practise also saves on them simply dumping the boxes... You have to buy a carrier bag if you want one, most are the reusable type. The Irish Republic brought in a "Bag Tax" a few years ago-if You want a carrier bag,you pay for it.
