Ice cream can cure cough?

Hi. celestial052506. I have never heard of this before. I think that if I ate ice cream while I had a cold, it would make me more sicker. It would take my cold a long time to go away. If I had a sore throat, I think that the coolness would ease the pain somewhat. I just would not try to eat ice cream then.

while ice cream can soothe a sore throat (because of its coldness), it is not that good for you as it contains milk products and milk products can thicken your mucas. so i dont know that it would do much for a cough!

Just recently, my husband suffered a whooping cough. One of the doctors that he went to for a check up said that ice cream is one good remedy. So, in short, he tried it..A day later, he was back at the clinic but went to another doctor. He lost his voice and suffered laryngitis. He told the new doctor what the first one told him and the doctor simply said that, it's not a good cure. Because it could only aggravate the cough. Ice cream is sweet and cold therefor it could cause the tonsils to get more swollen thus irritating the throat, which could also cause the start of a cough. As for your husband, maybe ice cream does the trick..

I was thinking about that a few days ago and even told it to my boyfriend. But he said it will get worse. Now I'm slightly having cough and I'll try it..

hi, i accidentally tried this remedy , i was suffering from dry cough for past 3 weeks, i was afraid it was going to get worse but to my surprise, the chest muscles/nerves felt relaxed while i was having it... it did the trick for me... but i think it works for dry cough only.. thanks and regards

Gee, that's so paradoxical to what my parents always told me. They always said eating cold stuff when you have a cough will make it worse. Whenever I have a cough, they always said to drink warm water, avoid fried food and so on. Wow, I think I should try out what your husband does the next time I have a cough. I hope my next cough will be super short-term from this new-found remedy! Thanks so much for sharing and your husband is really daring in my opinion!

Really? I did not hear that treatment yet.. lol. Ho many cups of ice cream he ate? this is interesting..I might try this when I have cough... lol..
