Hi. I was wondering overall do you think tv is better or wors then it used to be?
A lot of people have said tv is not as good as it used to be (often critising reality tv) and in some ways I know what they mean,i also think that we have had some of the best shows on tv in recent years for example 24, hereos, the reincarnation of Doctor Who to name but a few high quality shows.
So overall do you think in this decade we have had some of the best shows or do you think tvs just not as good?

Intreasting what people think so far. I agree with the whole reality tv thing, at first i thought Big Brother was ok, but by the 4th season or so, I think tey pourposly try to get people who are likly to not get on with each over aand now i can not stand the show.
Some of the reality shows are good though, like Come Dine With me for example if that counts. Also Wife Swap seems to have had a good impact on some people.
Plus, we now seem to have more talent shows that have judges- most of all I do like and am glad to have them but want to see other formats too.
I agree about the enhancments we have had in terms of graphics ect on shows which really can make them great, but ofcourse they still need great acting and writing ect to be a winner.
An example of a mordern idea is the real time element in 24 which as far as im aware was not done/rarely done before then and adds something to the show, thoug that is a truly quality shows anyway, i think.

I think that due to the developments of technology the quality of the things we see on tv is a lot better than it used to be. Programmes such as House and CSI are absolutely fantastic and the CGI used in programmes nowadays really helps to build a quality and realistic programme that grips a viewer. I can see why people say tv isn't good any more because of reality tv. Sure these shows drag in viewers, but once you've seen one season of Big Brother you've seen them all. It's just a cheap way of the TV companies making lots of money. Ah well. The less people that watch the shows means the companies might realise they need some better ideas... At least House and CSi are back for another season!
