How many are taking a vacation this year?

I will be leaving on Saturday for Tennessee and Alabama to see my children and my grandchildren. My youngest daughter and her husband have purchased a new home and are an excited young family. They wont be going away on a vacation this year because they want to paint the inside and putter around in the yard. Their young boys are as excited as they are because they get to help with the painting. So I am going to spend my vacation with them helping them plan a garden and visiting some sites. With the cost of gas I guess there will be a lot who don't go on a vacation this year. Will you be leaving your home for a vacation somewhere else or will you spend it at home this year?

This is probably the first year we are not going to take a major vacation and we cut out our 'mini vacations' a few years ago when gas prices 'spiked' to $2/gallon. Sad...... Zelo

My husband and I just had a week vacation in May. We have a time share condo in New Hampshire at a ski resort in off season. It's so nice and quiet. There are two pools and two hot tubs and the bathtub has whirlpool jets in it in the apartment. It was our first vacation in four years. Right now we are working on painting on our house, and hoping to get the roof and the porches fixed this summer.

Don't know. Depends how much the gas prices rise. They're predicting $5 a gallon in July. I don't know if it'll fall again by time late August to say whether or not it'll be reasonable for my family to expect to be able to go on our five day vacation camping out at a flea market. We're not very well-off, and never really have been, but the gas is a killer these days.

We spent our vacation time visiting my family, which is only 200 miles (4hrs) away. But we just don't get there as much as I'd like and my sister from Tennessee was visiting so you can bet I'm not going to miss spending time with her. We would have liked to go on a little bit bigger vacation, but with gas the way it is and with some other major things taking place this summer, we just didn't want to spend the extra money. So we'll save it for another time. Besides our boys love riding the pedal tractors at grandpa's house. And we didn't have to pay for those rides.

I can't afford to go on vacation this year. I have taken a few vacation days tho. I took off for my daughter's b-day, but we didn't go anywhere. Just wanted to spend the extra time with her.

I'm leaving Sunday with my boyfriend and two friends to travel to Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey for a few days then in a few months to South Carolina. I'm looking forward to both trips. We'll probably also go to King's Dominion this year as well because I LOVE Volcano, and they have a new roller coaster!!

I'm not sure. I do a lot of traveling in the summer, but mostly just around New York, Connecticut, and Boston. I have a lot of friends in the metro region. I'll probably take the train to see my friends in Rhode Island this weeken. Then next weekend I'll probably visit my grandparents. Summer is a good time because many of my activities are not in session.

Hi Kowgirl-well I for one won't be having a holiday this year as far as I'm concerned they are only for people who have the money to do so-but here and there I will be having a few days away for a break but I always look for the cheapest places to stay..if its not cheap I stay at home-your littleowl

I will be going on vacation next month! Every July I go to San Diego for Comic Con! I go with my parents and brother, and we usually stay a little over a week. When we're not at the convention, we're sightseeing, going to the zoo and Sea World, going to the beach, and visiting old friends (we used to live in San Diego). Sometimes we even drive up to DisneyLand or Hollywood! So yah, I can't wait to go this year! It'll be a lot of fun! My dad turns 60 this fall, so we might also go on a second vacation to Cape Cod in the fall to celebrate his birthday with his sisters and their families. And I'm also trying to plan a short weekend vacation with my boyfriend sometime in August or September... so we'll see how that goes! So yah, although gas is expensive, it's not stopping me from traveling!
