should there be subject selection in secoundary shools or not

as we go for the higher studies we have to select some subjects of our choice till then we have to study all subjects compolsory even if they are not going to help us so why dont they be removed earlier only at the secondary school and study those which we like

Here in Canada there is subject selection in secondary school! After grade nine then you get some choice..a few are compulsory each year but then you get to make some choices as well to specialize and prepare for college/university! ~Heavens~
