I had my first analog cellphone (not SMS capable yet) in 1997, I was only 15. I was the one who operates it but it is actually for the whole family. It was a luxury already at that time but for us, we need to communicate with my mother who was an overseas worker. It was motorola phone, I don't know the model anymore. :-)

hi chrysz! we also had an analog cellphone back in 1999/2000. it was my mother's and i think it was provided by her office. we didn't have a telephone yet that time and we couldn't apply for one because the telephone company required at least 10 or 20 houses in our neighborhood to apply for a line. and back then, only a very few of families needed a telephone. we didn't reach the quota so we weren't able to apply. mother needed a form of communication because she was always in field and her officemates needed to communicate with her so the office provided her an analog cellphone. when my mother is at home i used to use it to call my friends. ^__~ oh, and it was a nokia model. but technically speaking, i had my first cellphone when i was in my first year in college. it was a bosch model cellphone and it was yellow with a little blue on it. i think it was endorsed by Aga Mulach before. ^__^;; i needed a cellphone because i was studying in a far off college and it was the first i was away from the family so my mother bought me one. sad to say, i lost it in a taxi. i was so guilt-stricken and i felt ashamed since it was my mother's money. so i used my allowance from my scholarship and bought my second cellphone.

I was 18 years old when I got my first cellphone in 2000. It was a Nokia 918, so like yours it was not SMS capable. It was a good phone, and the only reason why I stopped using it was because I could no get a replacement battery for it.

Hello there! Thanks for letting me remember my first cell phone, that was Nokia5110 way back in 1998...just a decade ago. It was still GSM but I together with my co-managers were elated to have gotten our first cellphone unit loaned to us by the company. Anyway, it helped me a lot during those times when I was being sent to seminars and trainings most often. Good day and Happy posting!

I got my first analog cell. phone when I was 18 & now I'm 37 so that would make it year 1989... I had a cell. phone for 19 years going on my 20th year... That's when I got a job at Radio Shack & I think Nokia made the phone but had Radio Shack logo on it... I don't even remember the model # on it...
