My husband killed two snakes in our yard today! Im so glad he was home today from work so he could kill them cause I dont know if I could do it! They were both copperhead snakes too. Snakes are my worst fear ever and that frightens me that he found them in the middle of the yard, especially since my kids spend alot of time playing outside.

As long as they stay AWAY from the house, they have nothing to fear from me. Since I've had cats around, however, I've seen very few LARGE snakes, and only a few smaller ones. Before that, I've killed rattlers that have been too close to the house. We have Bull snakes around here, too, which look much like rattlers, but their bark is worse than their bite... and BOY do they have a TEMPER!

Hello and welcome to MyLot.The only bullsnake I ever had direct contact with was just laying across a trail sunning itself and I almost stepped on it but at the last second saw it there and barely shifted to avoid it.It did not move a muscle but I had muscles moving all over me!No harm,no foul though.

Copperheads! Can't stand them.... Copperheads travel in pairs. Where there is one, there is going to be a mate close by. I am happy for you that your husband was home to take care of the nasty situation.

I can understand killing a venomous snake near where children play but I would have just relocated them to a place where they could do their duty and kill and eat rodents that give us diseases as well as eat our food and make it unsafe to eat. I used to catch and sell live rattle snakes and can tell you that snakes are more afraid of you than you are of them, if they know that you are around they will try to get away, it is when you corner them or they cannot get away that they are most dangerous. I remember one time I was camping out near a lake in just a bed roll and when I woke up in the morning I had two rattle snakes in the bed roll with me. They were there just to keep warm so I slowly picked them up and put them out of the bed roll.
