Today i took my chihuahua to the vets to have kennell cough drops and have his nails cut.
Now takin him to the vets is a nightmare he is terrified, so as soon as the vet tries to do anything he tried to bite and throws himself around so you cant do anything, and with his been so small he gets out of the mussels!
Before we have had to have him sedated just to have his booster and nails cut..
But today....
We had success! the vet actually used a cat mussel on him so it was small enough to fit his nose but it also covered his eyes, he tried to fight the vert off but after a few mins he gave up and the vet managed to give the drops and cut all his nails!
I just felt very releived because he had a nail that was nearly growing back into his foot.
Any1 else have this trouble with their dog??

I have the same problem with my Chihuahua terrier mix. We cut her nails ourselves because it's hard to find a groomer who will do it. I'm not about to pay a vet to do it if she already hates to go there in the first place. What we do is put a muzzle on her then put a sock over her head (don't worry, she can still breathe fine). The sock is necessary because she gets out of her muzzle. One person has to hold her on her back and secure her other three legs while another person holds the last leg and cuts its nail. It's difficult but possible.

Never thought of the sock thing before.... we take him to the vets because we have tried everything we possibly can to cut his nails and we get no where! he is so difficult.
We didnt get charged for having his nails cut anyway, they only charged us for the kennel cough drops, which he's had to have to stay in kennels while were on holiday.
Might try the sock thing next time he needs his nails doing... we had a jack russel before him and she just used to sit there and let you do it so when we got him it was a bit of a shock! lol
