How do you handle this?

Today got a nice talk with an old lady, who said my dog looked very good. She wanted to know who bathed and cutted the hair of my Sheltie. And she was surprised to hear that I did it. Do you take your dog to a professional groomer or do you groom your dog yourself?

I groom my Peke myself. I was really surprised when I started getting complements about it. I have been doing it a few years now and have gotten pretty good at it. I got tired of waiting for appointments, then having to kill hours while they groomed him and he hates it so I was worried about the whole process. He hates it, but gets extra lovings so he forgives me...lol.

I never though of giving my Jazzy to a groomer. She is a real shy Sheltie girl. She won´t even walk with a groomer. By the way she likes to be groomed. But after having a bathing with an skin treament at the vet she is hating other people taking her for bathing or grooming. And of course as you do there are extra lovings after the whole process.

I think that is just a nice compliment. I personally do not have a pet, but I have yet to know someone who actually cuts their own pet's hair. I would just take it as it is - a nice compliment. Maybe you could start a business to earn some extra cash on the side? That's not being sarcastic, I'm serious. A lot of people don't have that skill and people probably don't want to pay groomers all that money these days, but still need it done. You could offer a discount and get some extra cash.

Yes I took it as a compliment. I was just astonished because I never had a groomer doing it for me. So I got years of experience -but i wouldn´t do it for business.
