Does anyone know about balancing hormones in order to clear up skin from acne, pimples, blackheads, etc..? Any advice, besides that which involves taking birth control pills, is greatly appreaciated.

I wouldnt try controlling your acne by your hormones. Birth control can clear some peoples skin and can cause acne in some people too. And if you were to try them you would have to take them for a while before you noticed a good or bad difference, and then if your skin became worse it can take time for your hormones to re balance them selves once youve stopped taking the pills. I have been suffering with acne for a while i am 21 didnt really get it much as a teenager but i do now. I couldnt find any creams or soaps that worked on my acne so i went to my doctor and he prescribed me some antibiotics. i am on minocycline at the moment but there are different kinds. I have been taking them for 3 weeks and my skins really is improving. On my back and chest aswell. I have also found that using distilled whitchazel in a bottle on your face helps to dry up the oil but doesnt give you any dry skin at all.

Thanks for sharing. May I ask which of your doctors prescribed this for you - your primary care physician, or your dermatologist?

What Shogunly said is right. Most people with acne have the normal level of hormaones. It is a big misunderstanding about the hormones .I am a docter of dermatology. What i suggest u is go to see a doctor of the dermatology departmnent. He/She will give u a proper treatment according to your condition. Different condition of acne has different treatment. Before that, what u must follow are :Don't sit up late ; Avoid food rich in fat and suger; Don't squeeze the lesions. All these instructions are useful to avoid the aggrevation and the scar.

Listen my friend unless you are a female diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Disease ( obesity , severe acne , hirsutism , no periods , and diabetes ) don't mess with your hormones . Hormones provide FERTILE GROUNDS for acne , but other factors cause the eruption of acne because those hormonal factors are the same with ALL people HOWEVER FEW go on to develop acne . I am a guy and I suffered severe acne which I did not treat and now I regret it , so here are some things I learned from experience : If there is one major treatable factor that influences acne zits and blackheads eruptions it's STRESS yes adolescents have stress too only AND they have the disadvantage of not being able to deal with stress because they so young SO I recommend you do anything to relieve stress if you can identify stress in your life , for example enroll in sports program , start learning a new hobby or if stress is that bad you can even talk to a doctor to give you medication . I am familiar with the usual advice about avoiding extra fat in food , it's also very true because the fat will add to the secretions in your skin which are infected and result in acne . However one thing that is not common knowledge is that you should drink WATER , water makes it more likely that skin secretions will be more fluid and less likely to clog skin pores and get infected . I hope you clear the acne soon without messing with hormones .
