Touring Israel

United States

Hi! Just wanted to see who on MyLot.com has been to Israel? When were you in Israel? What group did you tour with or did you go alone or with your family? Would you go to Israel today? I was in Israel in the Summer of 1979 with the United Synagogue Youth and then again in the Summer of 1980 with the High School in Israel Program. Is there anyone here at MyLot.com who was in Israel during those times? Maybe we ran into one another. I enjoyed my time in Israel a great deal. I learned how it was that the Jews survived so long being surrounded by more than 5 "enemy" countries that would love to see Israel destroyed. Give me your thoughts on the Holy Land. I am not looking for just Jewish viewpoints, but all. Thank you, Shalom

I was in Israel during the summer of 1985. I was there attending a summer program for American university students at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The program included participants from all parts of life--students of traditional age, returning students like myself, professionals using the university program as an opportunity for continuing education, and retirees determined to learn a bit of Hebrew late in life. My trip to Israel was a wonderful experience, and I would go again in a heartbeat. It's an amazing country--beautiful, diverse, and welcoming. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East puts a security edge on everything, but there is also an exhilarating dynamic for life in this country that is always under seige. Indeed, since 9/11, we Americans have been Israelis. We are all, in our own way, under seige.

Shalom! How are you? In fact, I live in Israel. I've borned here and I'm living here all my life so I can absolutely understand you. I've heard many times about people who like Israel and want to see the holy land but they live in other countries. When they came to Israel and entered Jerusalem they felt amazing. In fact there is even a mental phenomena which called Jerusalem Syndrom and caused after people see Jerusalem for the first time. Nowadayas, Israel is face over a very big threat which comes from Iran and may end the Israeli state. I think that everybody who loves Israel should stand beside her and help us save the Israel's land!
