In my early 20s I was an activist and eventually became a labor union leader. Part of my duty was to attend to our member's concerns. Although problems to be entertained must only be a work-related matter, it is also inevitable to encounter domestic problems, finance and relationship problems. One time, a health doctor called me and told me that one of my member knocked at her door at midnight, bleeding and delivered a baby an hour later. She has no money nor anything for the baby. I immediately informed the management and asked them if I can use the company ambulance. The company nurse accompanied me and when we arrived at the doctor's home she asked us to bring my member at hospital because she had an infection and needs an immediate treatment. The company nurse took charge of the admission process leaving the baby to my attention. When the baby started to cry, the hospital nurse asked me if I have a milk and feeding bottle so she can help me prepare the baby's milk. I told her I dont have anything with me but I'm a breastfeeding mom and is it alright if I breastfeed the baby. She told me its fine as long as I want to share my breast to other's baby. So thats it! I breastfeed the poor little boy:) I learned later that my member's relationship has ended when her BF learned bout her pregnancy. She was afraid to inform her parents so she just keep it to herself and nobody in the company knows about her pregnancy. I immediately scheduled a grievance case against her BF who was also a union member. When he learned bout his newborn son and her GF, he cried and the rest was history. Now they were happily married and each time I see them and the boy who is already in grade school, I cant help smiling and remember the time I feed him on my breast:). How about you? can you also share the wonders of helping other people?

I think that is one of the warmest stories I have ever heard. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside lol. That use to be a normal thing years ago for a woman to nurse anothers child. I think they called them wet-nurses or something, of course your not that. I can't even come up with a word to discribe how cool that is that you did this for this little baby. God bless you.

Thank you for your response. Last week, the boy's mom visited me and we reminisced the old days and were laughing ang crying together. She's happy and contented now and very thankful of what I did to her. Of course her husband is not very comfortable with my presence each time he sees me and I understand why. She told me that until now he's ashamed of what happen in the past but I told him it's over and what matters now is he's there trying to be a responsible husband and a very loving father. As a labor union leader, those are my fulfillment. Gaining respect, loyalty and love from my members.

I have nursed seven of my own children! So I did have the opportunity to nurse another infant or two! It is so natural, and nothing wrong with it! Babies can smell the milk! Wait until they are teenagers, then they will say it is "nasty"! Infants are wonderful, and I am glad that story had a happy ending!

Isn't it something what happens to us as we age? I think it is mother nature making us think it tastes nasty, so the grown men do not take all the baby's milk! LOL Mine also nursed a long time, each one a different amount of time! Only one actually weaned herself, so I guess she did lose the "taste" for it by thirty months! I have had a dentist tell me that it is the same as formula, as far as the teeth are concerned! I could not believe what I was hearing, and told her that we have to feed the baby's something! Now they do not recommend letting the baby continue nursing or drinking the bottle while they fall asleep! AS soon as the baby is asleep, I gently disconnect, minute sooner if it is possible and will not wake the baby! I think dental caries in toddlers is more from candy, but parents do not want to admit the kid is getting candy at an early age!

Thanks for the best response! I will never forget that story, now I will call it nature's Gatorade! No wonder the babies like it so much!

This is one remarkable story I read in mylot. I seldom hear stories like this and it is really good to know that there are still people who are really willing to help others in time of distress. I'm proud of you! keep up the good work.
