I have to quit

Yesterday morning I settled in to do my typical clicking on my PTC sites. I had about 3 of them open as well as my e-mail and PTR sites. All of a sudden my spyware program popped up and told me there had been a registry change, and asked me to accept or deny it. But before I could click to deny it, my computer rebooted itself. Upon restart I could not access my firewall program or spyware program. I could access my anti-virus, and ran a scan that produced 4 trojans! It deleted them, and to be safe I ran the virus scan again. This time it picked up 3 DIFFERENT trojans. I still could not access my firewall or spyware, so I did a system restore to a couple of days ago, and ran the virus scan again, which again found 2 different trojans, and some sort of mutant virus!! Well, in the end I had to wipe my hard drive. Of course the viruses ate my factory restore, so I had to do it all the hard way. I am so lucky my husband works with computers for a living, or I would have been so lost. In the end I realize it's probably not a smart idea to do these click sites, as you never know what is on the websites you're clicking. When I think about the hundreds, and even thousands of websites my computer is exposed to on a daily basis from the click sites and traffic exchanges, well, it's just not worth the safety of my computer for a few cents a day. I will continue to chat here on Mylot, as I've never had a problem with it, and if I put as much time into Mylot as I do on the other GPT sites, I can earn more anyways. But the other sites... nope I'm done!

Sometimes you have to turn off the internet when that happens! It can prevent a lot of damage. I read "Steve's Computer Tips" and have been for several years! It just had an article about this problem yesterday.

I did unplug my modem as soon as the computer rebooted itself, as this was not my first interaction with a virus.

I had a webtv that could not get viruses, at least not on the personal use level! This mac mini I am using is not supposed to be vulnerable to viruses, but something similar happened last week and lucky for me, my teenaged son was here and he stopped it! Hopefully, the only address book the virus can use is Outlook, and I no longer use it after being told about that "little" problem!

There are so many rumors and it is difficult to know which ones are true! How can you tell if there was any damage or emails that went out, unless someone in your address book tells you so?

good day.. It's good that you notice it early on. Viruses, spywares do more than be a nuisance in your system and that it could steal vital information that is stored in your computer. Identity theft and credit card scam are just a few to name.
